Job Description

This is a Full Time Role for a Risk and Compliance Specialist with specific coverage of data quality and data governance. The successful candidate's responsibilities will include supporting management and oversight of data quality and data governance programs within USBE partnering with the bank's business lines to promote effective governance, reporting processes and controls.

Key working relationships

The candidate will need to build and maintain effective relationships across the Bank and its parent Group, including business line leadership, the broader set of stakeholders across the three lines of defence, corporate function staff, as well as key risk personnel with exposure to a variety of different risk programs and activities.

Principal responsibilities of Position

The role holder will be part of a high performing and experienced team with multi-disciplinary responsibility. The role holder will be involved in the following:

  • Execution and coordination of key Data Quality activities:
    • Day-to-day analyst activities for Data Quality and related programs including deep dive workshops and engagement on emerging risks, program deliverables, projects and queries arising from management or governance.
    • Ensure critical Key Reports of the Bank have been fully deconstructed into their key business and technical elements.
    • Build and maintain familiarity with a variety of systems and applications to support competence in executing analyst activities such as reviewing risk and control records, extracting required data, and attesting on assigned activities.
    • Support management in design and delivery of innovative solutions to simplify, automate or optimise processes required for regulatory compliance and risk mitigation or oversight.
    • Maintenance of required procedures, documentation, controls, and evidence to enable audit trail and drive effective awareness, oversight, and action from stakeholders.
    • Risk Appetite and Key Indicator reporting design, monitoring, reporting, and escalation including quarterly oversight of upstream activities and data inputs.
    • Periodic risk and control self-assessment and material risk assessments to ensure appropriate risk evaluation, mitigation, and escalation to management, as necessary.
    • Oversight of Intragroup outsourcing services provided to EFS through our parent organisation including ongoing monitoring and periodic assessments.
    • Evaluation of business changes including strategic projects to identify and surface data or resiliency risks for mitigation.
  • Reporting to different risk and governance forums, including reporting to Group, on outputs from Data Quality and governance activities.
  • Development of procedures and controls to ensure comprehensive implementation of the Bank's Data Governance Policies and Programs.
  • Management and maintenance of various inventories, records and repositories based on completed activities, insights from data quality analysis and evidence requirements supporting procedures and controls.
  • Facilitate regulatory or internal audit driven reviews, as necessary.
  • Support management in execution of key risk management and administrative requirements supporting various other risk programs and internal requirements.

  • Competent in working with data and information from multiple distinct sources leveraging and building experience with various toolkits to generate effective management information and drive action.
  • Demonstrated analytical, project management and tactical planning skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including production of presentation materials for management and committee consumption.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent academic qualifications or work experience in risk management, computer science, information management or related disciplines.

Preferred experience includes:

  • Minimum 2 or more years of related experience in Operational Risk, Data Governance, or a suitable related discipline.
  • Familiarity with risk management and applicable laws, regulations in financial services and regulatory trends, particularly in the areas of Data Governance, ICT and Risk Management.
