Job Summary

The Data Privacy Specialist will support the core privacy compliance operations at BHFS. This will include supporting the Data Protection Officer in managing the implementation of BHFS Privacy Program to ensure compliance with the relevant privacy and data protection laws and regulations. The role will assist in all issues relating to the protection of personal data including the maintenance of personal data Inventories, performing privacy risk assessments, managing data subject rights requests, privacy disclosures and and advising on data protection queries.

Key Responsibilities

Deputise for the Data Protection Officer

Inform and advise the company and its employees of their obligations under privacy and data protection laws globally

Manage end-to-end execution of privacy risk assessments, including privacy impact assessment, transfer impact assessment, third party privacy risk assessment, among others. Act as a contact point for requests from individuals regarding the processing of their personal data and with exercising their rights

Support the Data Protection Officer in managing requests from supervisory authorities and act as a contact point for internal departments while resolving issues related to the requests

Maintain comprehensive records of processing activities conducted by the company, including the purposes of processing activities

Collaborate with teams within BHFS and across the Booking Holdings brands to ensure data privacy compliance objectives are delivered

Monitor effectiveness of data privacy controls, including data inventory, data privacy by design, third party assurance, data transfers, data rights request responses, personal data flow diagrams and privacy enhanced technologies

Monitor and assess the impact of legal and regulatory changes in the privacy and data protection field

Monitor and assess the impact or learnings from regulatory enforcement actions in relation to violation of privacy and data protection laws, rules and regulations

Act as the primary point of contact for internal and external auditors

Collaborate in BHFS and across Booking Holdings Group in order to create and maintain Privacy risk frameworks.

Collaborate with information security and cybersecurity departments to track, monitor and manage privacy incidents, including personal data breaches

Create and maintain engaging, relevant and modern privacy training and awareness content, including for enterprise mandatory trainings

Review and advise the business on data sharing and processing agreements

Advise business stakeholders on various data protection queries

Knowledge and Skills

Strong understanding of global data protection and privacy laws, including EU and the UK General Data Protection Regulation, and privacy requirements in the financial services industry in the EEA, UK and US

8+ years experience in a privacy and data protection compliance or a related function along with substantial experience in managing privacy risk assessments and related privacy controls

Extensive experience in advising business stakeholders on various privacy and data protection queries

Undergraduate/Post-graduate degree in a similar field is strongly preferred (e.g. law, data protection, business, security)

Professional privacy certifications are preferred (CIPP/E, CIPM)

Basic understanding of Artificial Intelligence and related technologies, privacy enhancing technologies, security concepts and measures and how they intersect data protection regulatory obligations

Good understanding of privacy contractual arrangements, including, data processing and data transfer agreements

A clear thinker and problem solver, able to translate business needs into pragmatic solutions and implement them

Detailed oriented approach in recommending and implementing solutions and improvements on a range of data privacy and protection issues

Able to work effectively in a multi-functional, multi cultural environment and be open to change and the challenges that arise in a dynamic environment

Excellent understanding of privacy by design and data ethics principles and application

A sense of urgency in solving inquiries and requests to ensure timely resolution and an ability to work effectively under pressure

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact skillfully and confidently with internal partners and colleagues to develop ideas, find opportunities and influence outcomes

Excellent understanding of privacy risk and control frameworks

A sense of urgency in solving inquiries and requests to ensure timely resolution and an ability to work effectively under pressure

An effective team member, with developed communication and negotiation skills to focus on building and maintaining positive relationships with various business stakeholders

Able to work efficiently, productively and independently with minimal supervision
