Appointment will be made on the Grade VI salary scale (€57,325 - €65,363; point in line with Government pay policy).
Responsibilities- Manage the Portering Services in conjunction with the Portering Services Manager and in the absence of the Portering Services Manager. Include all areas where Portering staff provide a service or may do so in the future (e.g., new buildings/developments on site).
- Rostering, deployment of staff; allocations of duties; supervision and training of staff; recruitment of temporary/permanent staff.
- Completion and maintenance of records/documentation (Annual Leave, Sick Leave, Late Attendance); salary returns and employment setups; development of job descriptions.
- Assist in development, maintenance, and smooth running of the service; establish, maintain, and review procedures, systems, and records including IT for the department.
- Identify personnel, equipment/uniforms, and develop departmental budget; monitor and control costs.
- Foster a customer service orientation by liaising with department heads; address industrial relations issues per Beaumont Hospital policies.
- Ensure effective communication among staff; organize and document staff meetings and minutes; coach and refer staff as needed.
- Coordinate with Health and Safety Coordinator to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation.
- Assist with services under the department (Audio Visual equipment, Post Room, Mortuary) and oversee their maintenance and development.
- Oversee staff training requirements; devise a database to maintain training records; ensure mandatory training is completed; manage the training budget with the Patient Services.
- Have satisfactory experience in a permanent and pensionable office under a health board, local board, or equivalent body, at a level not lower than Grade IV.
- Have at least two years of satisfactory experience in a permanent capacity in a relevant office or higher, under the stated authorities.
- Possess sufficient administrative capacity to discharge the functions of the grade.
- Be 18 years of age or over and under 65 on the first day of the month in which applications close.
- Be free from diseases that would render them unsuitable to hold the office; health examination may be required before appointment.
- Be of good character.
- Full-time, permanent appointment with one month's notice; probation period of one year.
- Remuneration: Current Grade VI salary; PRSI and superannuation terms apply as outlined by national regulations.
The appointee will be required to maintain timekeeping records and adhere to the hospital's disciplinary and confidentiality policies. Staff identification and information security are to be observed in accordance with hospital policy.
