Location: Dublin, Ireland (based in Dublin). This role is part of the Standard Life International (SL Intl) Actuarial Function team.
Key ResponsibilitiesSolvency II
- Coordinate and monitor the evaluation of Solvency II results and oversee governance and sign-off of calculations.
- Review the appropriateness of methodology, models and processes used, data quality and modelling granularity, analysis of change, and approximations/limitations.
- Support the Head of Actuarial Function (HoAF) in the production of the annual Actuarial Opinion on Technical Provisions (AOTP) and the Actuarial Report on Technical Provisions (ARTP).
Basis and Methodology
- Assist HoAF in producing the annual Underwriting Opinion.
- Support reviews of proposals for new initiatives, pricing and product development, and regular product/pricing reviews.
- Attend the Product, Pricing and Profitability Committee (PPPC) representing the Actuarial Function; provide feedback on proposals and ensure appropriate actions are reflected in financial reporting for any changes in the business.
Underwriting & Pricing
- Assist HoAF in producing the annual Underwriting Opinion.
- Support reviews of proposals for new initiatives, pricing and product development updates, and regular product/pricing reviews.
- Attend PPPC representing the Actuarial Function; provide feedback on proposals and ensure financial reporting reflects changes in the business.
- Support the HoAF in performing regulatory duties, including ongoing relationship with the Central Bank of Ireland (CBI) and issue resolution under intra-group reinsurance agreements.
- Develop and maintain internal relationships within SL Intl (Finance and Risk) and with Life Actuarial and Life Finance within Phoenix Group.
- Provide input into changes or projects within SL Intl and the wider Group as required.
- Qualified Actuary.
- Experience in life insurance, particularly unit-linked, annuities, and with-profits business.
- Knowledge of Solvency II Standard Formula methodology and its application is advantageous.
- Familiarity with the HoAF's statutory responsibilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to convey technical issues to both actuarial and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to quickly understand key issues and form sound judgments on priorities.
