The role
Responsibilities- Provide tax advisory support for business initiatives, including financing, mergers, acquisitions, and capital investments.
- Collaborate with treasury, finance, legal, and operations teams to ensure tax-efficient business practices.
- Manage and oversee various aspects of corporate tax compliance, including income tax, VAT, and other indirect taxes (such as US sales tax). Pioneer automation strategies across the tax process.
- Develop and implement tax strategies to optimize the company's tax position while ensuring compliance with existing and emerging local and international tax laws. Liaise with external tax advisors, auditors, and tax authorities as needed.
- Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess their impact on the business. Lead tax audits (proactive prevention) and manage any disputes or inquiries from tax authorities.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; Master's degree or professional qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CPA, CTA) will be advantageous
- Minimum of 7-10 years of relevant tax experience, ideally with some time in both industry and an advisory firm.
- Strong knowledge of international tax regulations, with experience with debt financing or indirect taxes welcomed. Canadian and US tax experience would be useful.
- Experience with ERP systems and tax software (together with tax automation projects)
- Proven track record Managing tax compliance and audits
