Brothers Of Charity Services Ireland – Southern Region invites applications for Health & Social Care Assistants (2 posts) to support Children's Disability Network Teams (CDNT) working with children who have a disability and complex health needs. The CDNTs provide specialised health and social care, supporting the child's development, wellbeing and participation in family and community life. Team members work with the child and family in home, school or the CDNT office, sharing knowledge, information and skills to support individual development goals as part of the Individual Family Support Plan.
This is an exciting opportunity to support the team, children and families presenting with complex needs arising from a disability. The role includes supporting clinicians to implement programmes in special schools in the area.

- Post 1: Permanent Full-time (39 hours per week)
- Location: Children Disability Network Team 7 – East Cork City based in Carrigtwohill, Co. Cork
- Post 2: Permanent Part-Time (19.5 hours per week)
- Location: Children's Disability Network 13 Carrigaline / Kinsale / Bandon with bases in Carrigaline and Bandon, Co. Cork

The RoleThe Health & Social Care Assistants carry out delegated aspects of client care and provide assistance to Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech & Language Therapists or other Health & Social Care Professionals in the CDNT. They work under the direction of the supervising Health & Social Care Professional to support services to children and families. They are members of an inter-disciplinary team and participate in team meetings, training and development. Depending on service needs, they may work under the direction of one Health & Social Care Professional or with different professions, based on knowledge, competence and skills.
Qualifications & EligibilityWho can apply must, by the closing date, meet one of the following criteria:
- Possess a relevant QQI Level 5 health skills qualification (or equivalent) including Level 5 minor awards in Physiotherapy Assistant Theory/Practice, Occupational Therapy Assistant Theory/Practice, or Speech & Language Assistant Theory/Practice, or
- Possess a relevant Healthcare qualification at not less than QQI Level 5 and undertake to complete QQI Level 5 minor awards in the related Therapy Assistant fields within 1 year of taking up duty, or
- Be currently employed in a relevant role (e.g., Physiotherapy Assistant, Healthcare Assistant, Care Assistant, Attendant) for at least 1 year and undertake to acquire a QQI Level 5 major award with related minor awards within 1 year of starting the post, or
- Have completed the relevant QQI Level 5 minor awards and commit to achieving a QQI Level 5 major award within 1 year of taking up the post, or
- Hold an equivalent qualification from another jurisdiction

- A full QQI/FETAC 5 Major award requires 120 credits/8 modules (Component Certificate alone is not sufficient)
Other requirements: personal competence, ability to discharge duties, experience with children with disabilities, teamwork, proficiency in MS Office, and a valid full driving licence with means of transport.

Salary & ReportingSalary Scale: €35,788 - €44,984 (HSE Consolidated scales 1/8/25)
