Join to apply for the Graduate Software Engineer role at Bending Spoons
At Bending Spoons, we're striving to build one of the all-time great companies. A company that serves a huge number of customers. A company where team members grow to their full potential. A company that functions at unparalleled levels of effectiveness and efficiency. A company that creates value for shareholders at an extraordinary rate. And a company that does so while adhering to high ethical standards.
To achieve this objective, we execute the following strategy: We acquire a digital business with untapped potential and make it as successful as we can by leveraging our platform—which comprises our expertise, technologies, data, brand, talents, and company culture. Then, we invest the proceeds into making our platform more powerful, and into acquiring new businesses. Thus, our strategy sees us combine an investor's attention to capital allocation with the hands-on approach of an operator.
For a talented, driven, and collaborative individual, working at Bending Spoons is an opportunity to learn, make an impact, and progress their career at an exceptionally high rate. That's our promise to such a candidate.
Responsibilities- Master your toolkit. By working across diverse tech stacks, refine your ability to choose the right tools for every challenge. From monolithic to microservices architectures, gRPC to REST APIs, Kubernetes to Docker, Python to Rust—you'll demonstrate that true expertise is about purpose and effect.
- Build stuff that matters. Regardless of seniority, you'll have autonomy and ownership of your work from ideation to execution. You'll build software from the ground up and see how it evolves into a product used at scale.
- Simplify relentlessly. Turn complexity into simplicity by optimizing CI/CD pipelines, writing maintainable code, and crafting minimalist architectures to enable scalable, future-proof solutions.
- Reasoning ability. With the necessary knowledge, you can solve complex problems, think from first principles, resist biases, and focus on important details.
- Drive. Highly ambitious with initiative, effort, and tenacity. You take responsibility for your work and aim for a high, rising standard.
- Team spirit. You support the best idea, help your team, and are reliable, honest, and transparent.
- Proficiency in English. You read, write, and speak proficient English.
- Incredibly talented, entrepreneurial teams. Small, autonomous teams working with bright colleagues.
- An exceptional opportunity for growth. We hire individuals of outstanding potential and place them in roles to thrive. Spooners in their 20s lead products worth millions; high-potential candidates contribute to major projects.
- Competitive pay and equity. Salary ranges vary by location and experience, with potential equity at a discounted price. Relocation tax considerations may apply in Italy.
- All. These. Benefits. Flexible hours, remote work, learning stipends, comprehensive health insurance, relocation support, parental leave, and an annual retreat.
Permanent or fixed-term. Full-time.
LocationMilan (Italy), London (UK) or remote.
The selection processIf you pass our screening, you'll complete a series of tests and then participate in interviews. We set a high bar and may keep the role open for an extended period if the right candidate isn't found. We encourage applicants who believe they could excel in the role, even if their CV isn't a perfect fit.
Bending Spoons is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer. We consider all applicants and provide reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities—just let us know through this form.
Before you applyIf you've applied before but didn't receive an offer, we recommend waiting at least one year before applying again.
Bending Spoons is a demanding environment. We're ambitious and hold ourselves to a high standard. While this supports extraordinary learning and growth, it also requires significant commitment.
To help you ramp up quickly and set you up for success, we recommend spending your first few months working from our Milan office, regardless of your long-term work location. We'll support you with relocation and accommodation assistance. After that, you may work from our Milan or London offices, or remotely from approved countries—subject to offer-stage agreement.
If the role speaks to you and you're excited to contribute, we'd love to hear from you. Apply now—we can't wait to meet you.
