Assistant Director of Nursing (Permanent Full time 37.5 hours per week)

A new role has arisen within the Nursing Department for the above named position. This is a permanent and full-time role, 37.5 hours per week.

The Role:

The post holder will have operational site responsibility and will be responsible for promoting excellence in clinical care and practice across the hospital. The post holder will provide professional leadership and advice, managing all aspects of nursing services. The Assistant Director of Nursing will report to the Director of Nursing to ensure the delivery of an efficient nursing service within the hospital. They will ensure that professional nursing standards are maintained in line with national standards and local policies, while also managing the effective utilization of resources.

This role will also involve deputizing for the Director of Nursing in her absence.

The Candidate:
  • Current registration with NMBI
  • BSc qualification in Nursing and/or Healthcare Services Management or equivalent (desirable)
  • Minimum 10 years of experience with at least 3 years of line management experience
  • Proven clinical, leadership, managerial, and customer care skills
  • Empowering and enabling leadership style
  • High degree of commitment, professionalism, and dedication
  • Ability to evaluate information, make timely decisions, and solve problems
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work comfortably in multidisciplinary teams, collaborating with clinical and administrative staff
  • Proactive approach to planning
  • Effective resource coordination skills
  • Flexibility in work practices
  • Availability to work shift work and unsocial hours as required
