Role Purpose

Kirby Group Engineering is seeking an experienced CSA Project Quantity Surveyor to manage the financial, contractual, and commercial aspects of civil, structural and architectural packages on large-scale P&R (Power & Renewables) projects. Tasked with ensuring the maximum commercial benefit for the company and will entail a cradle to grave delivery from tender stage through to final accounts and all-encompassing duties in between.

CSA Project Quantity Surveyor Responsibilities

• Skilled at budgeting, reporting, developing BOQ's and profit plans.
• Undertake and manage interim commercial meetings with the Client and Internal Project Team. Report in detail as required for the Project Manager on the commercial status of the project.
• Manage subcontractor accounts, interim valuations and final accounts. Ensure payment certificates are processed and payments are made per the agreed sub-contract and procurement terms. Retentions apply as per agreements.
• Administer the contract obligations and meet additional Client requirements. Issue interim and final accounts and progress applications per project and contract requirements. Monthly applications to include remeasures, site changes, dayworks and any applicable contract claims. Identify escalations, material or labour, as appropriate.
• Identify potential commercial risks and ensure prompt reporting to Senior Management. Follow direction of Senior Management in undertaking work duties.
• Have a practical understanding of scheduling and the commercial implications. Ensure close collaboration with Planning Engineer regarding accuracy of progress reporting.
• Cost and agree daily work changes, manage subcontractor remeasurement of contract works, site dayworks and site change orders.
• Maintain accurate records and provide necessary detailed backup to support commercial tracking and costing.
• Work on own initiative, prioritise without direction and ensure speed and accuracy of information.
• Negotiate with clients or their representatives as necessary.
• Set an example of enthusiasm and hard work in the performance of all duties.
• Proactively ensure information security in compliance with Kirby ISMS.

Necessary requirements

• 3rd level qualification in Construction Economics / Quantity Surveying.
• Prior work placement experience would be advantageous.
• Proficient in Excel.
• Strong knowledge of CSA (Civil, Structural & Architectural) construction methods, contracts (NEC, FIDIC, JCT, etc.) and procurement processes.
• Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of contract conditions and their applications.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to influence stakeholders.
• High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple workstreams.
• Excellent records keeping and administration skills.

Desirable competencies / Special role requirements

• Understand contract obligations and the structure of interim and final claims.
• Ensure claims are formulated in line with constraints and include all work undertaken under appropriate categorization (e.g., day works, unit rate, contract work).
