Come define the future of data at OCLC Based in OCLC's headquarters in Dublin, Ohio, the Senior Product Manager, WorldCat Data Management is responsible for implementing OCLC's strategies to increase the value of WorldCat's data. OCLC is evolving our data coverage and quality to meet emerging and future needs for libraries, their users, bibliographic content publishers and aggregators.

The Senior Product Manager has ownership of the entire WorldCat data ecosystem. They work across all areas of OCLC to influence roadmaps of current and future services impacting the data dependent workflows and applications.

We're looking for a skilled Senior Product Manager who is not only passionate about implementing strategies, solving problems, and building great products, but is enthusiastic about contributing to a highly collaborative team. We partner with UI/UX to understand customer needs, with engineers and architects in planning and delivery of solutions, and with marketing experts to release new data-based solutions to our customers worldwide, and with business development and operations colleagues to continually secure metadata representing library and publisher collections worldwide.

Responsibilities:

  1. Product Strategy and Planning:
  2. Oversees market analysis and develops product strategy and business case. Defines strategic product goals.
  3. Produces product roadmap.
  4. Collaborates on release plans with Development.
  5. Collaborates with finance in the production of product budgets and forecasts.
  6. Collaborates on pricing strategies and product positioning plans which contribute to maximizing product profitability.
  7. Leadership and Management:
  8. Provides leadership to cross-functional product workgroups.
  9. Leads Product stakeholder meetings. Resolves conflicts and drives consensus.
  10. Facilitates collaboration and communication and secures commitment between Development and Product Management and other divisional workgroups towards achievement of common goals.
  11. Develops and monitors progress on product roadmap.
  12. Partners with business development and operations on content curation priorities.
  13. Product Marketing Oversight and Consultation:
  14. Assists in the development of strategies for customer acquisition and retention; manages relationships with user groups and assists sales team in generation of marketing and awareness plans.
  15. Understands how and when to commission market research to develop and maintain expertise in markets served, alternative services, new technology, and related standards.
  16. Can generate appropriate information for market sizes by sector / territory and can generate market penetration statistics.
  17. Provides training and support to the sales and support team; may assist in significant sales calls.
  18. Analyses reasons for OCLC product wins and losses against competition and can provide meaningful information to aid product planning.
  19. Will work to define and rationalize user personas.
  20. Will produce market/sector white papers.
  21. Consultation on Portfolio Planning:
  22. Provides input into portfolio business plans, roadmaps, strategies, metrics, and progress reports and reviews.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience.
  2. 2 to 4 years experience in library services or library management systems.
  3. 5+ years experience in product, project or program management.
  4. Knowledge of library and publisher data and content acquisition workflows.
  5. Experience in managing staff or team leadership.
  6. Well developed communication and presentation skills.
  7. Strong understanding of the Product Management Lifecycle model.
  8. Demonstrated ability with financial planning and financial forecasting.
  9. Extensive understanding of technical capabilities and market requirements needed to develop innovative market plans and roadmaps.

Desired but not required:

  1. 2 to 4 years experience in supporting online/database services, preferably in the library field.
  2. Experience leading cross functional workgroups.
  3. Knowledge of OCLC products and services.
  4. Knowledge of relevant technical and professional standards associated with library and publisher metadata creation.
  5. Experience with library or publisher content and data workflows.

Working Conditions: Normal office environment.
