Overview

As the Director of Nursing, you will oversee the nursing department, providing strategic direction and managing day-to-day nursing operations. You will lead and mentor a team of skilled professionals to ensure high-quality patient care, operational efficiency, and compliance with regulatory standards. This leadership role is critical in shaping the future of our nursing services and fostering a culture of excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the nursing department, provide strategic direction, and manage day-to-day nursing operations.
  • Lead and mentor a team of skilled professionals to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Ensure operational efficiency and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Provide support, advice, and guidance to the Home by way of an on-call arrangement.
  • Co-manage and support all departments including nursing, household, maintenance, and catering staff.
  • Promote a culture of excellence and a collaborative team environment.
Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a registered nurse in the last 6 years in care of the older person.
  • Currently registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
  • Post registration in management qualification (QQI Level 6 minimum).
  • Postgraduate diploma in Gerontology is desirable.
  • Working knowledge of HIQA standards, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Sound decision-making ability and results-driven.
  • Good appreciation of finance issues.
  • Ability to motivate self and others and work on own initiative.
  • Ability to work well and promote a team environment.
