Context

The People team in Designer Group consists of 4 areas of activity:

  • People Partnering to the Business (country specific support)
  • Talent Acquisition (Central Service Provision Unit)
  • HR Operations (Central Service Provision Unit)
  • Global Mobility

The Role

The People Partner is the key link between the People team and a range of defined stakeholders in the business. The People Partner provides guidance and insight into People matters, assists in building organisational and people capacity, anticipates the support needs of a range of business leaders and ensures the delivery of key people priorities, together with the wider People Team.

Each People Partner role has geographical and project specific responsibilities for in-country support and will focus heavily on supporting line management to take ownership of key people processes and strategic people initiatives. This will include implementing employee performance review processes, talent development and succession planning, retention strategies, employee engagement plans, employee relations and conflict resolution approaches.

This role will have responsibility for People Partnering with our UK projects, from our central team in Dublin and will also contribute to the wider People team agenda as the business demands.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  1. Successful delivery of the agreed annual HR agenda/timeline and employee lifecycle process in the area in scope.
  2. Supporting organisational change projects with associated people implications, such as project de-mobilisation.
  3. Liaison with Group TA and hiring managers in respect of new hire offers, ensuring appropriate internal alignment.
  4. Informal coaching of managers across a range of people processes and situations with the aim of effective intervention.
  5. Work in a hands-on basis with the respective country-management teams, supporting the delivery of People priorities such as new team induction and probationary management.
  6. Review of labour allocated to project sites, with key operational stakeholders and action any agreed people outcomes.
  7. Work collaboratively with the wider HR team on projects and an annual calendar of activity.
  8. Produce monthly and quarterly HR metrics for operational utilisation and wider people reporting.

Person Specification

The successful person will:

  • Have a high working knowledge of UK employment law.
  • Hold a relevant HR qualification, CIPD preferred.
  • Have relevant industry experience.
  • Have the ability to travel to the UK as required.
  • Use their own initiative in decision-making and be confident in their own ability.
  • Be resilient and flexible to assist the team to deliver on our People priorities across the business.
  • Possess excellent organisational skills.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Possess HR credibility.
  • Effectively manage their time.
