Overview

The Dietetic Department provides nutritional care across CUH, CUMH and St Finbarr's Rehabilitation Unit. The department currently employs 52 WTE dietitians providing clinical nutrition services across a range of specialties and works as the main training site for the dietetics postgraduate master's programme at University College Cork. The department aims to provide high quality nutritional care with a focus on clinical excellence and continuous improvement; the right care, in the right place, at the right time, guided by values of respect, communication, fairness and equity, teamwork and positivity.

Organisation

Cork University Hospitals Group (CUHG) is the HSE statutory acute hospital provider for Cork. The group comprises Cork University Hospital Wilton (Model 4), Mallow General Hospital (Model 2) and Bantry General Hospital (Model 2R), plus two community inpatient units (St. Finbarr's Hospital Rehabilitation Unit and Riverstick Transitional Care Unit). CUH is the largest statutory/HSE hospital in Ireland and the only Model 4 (Specialist Academic Teaching) Hospital in the state with all acute surgical and medical specialties on one campus, serving as a regional and supra-regional center for a wide catchment area.

Dietetic Department

Our Dietetic Department provides nutritional care across multiple specialties including Paediatrics; Nephrology; Endocrinology; Oncology; Cystic Fibrosis; Surgery; Gastroenterology; General Intensive Care; Cardiology & Heart Failure; Neonatology; Ketogenics; Stroke; Food Provision; Respiratory; Neurosurgery; Cardiac Intensive Care; Neurology; Rheumatology; Orthopaedics & Trauma; Care of the Elderly; Rehabilitation; Infectious Diseases; Acute Medicine; Cardiothoracics; Urology, Plastics and Maternity. The department is divided into five competency-based groups and is a key training site for the dietetics master's programme at UCC.
