We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Lead Business Analyst to join a leading financial services firm, focusing on back-office operations. This role is crucial in shaping the business processes and technological solutions for our client's internal operations, ensuring efficiency, scalability, and regulatory compliance. As the Lead Business Analyst, you will be responsible for leading cross-functional projects, engaging with stakeholders, and ensuring that business requirements are accurately captured, understood, and translated into actionable solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the main liaison between business stakeholders (including operations, compliance, and technology teams) and the project teams to ensure clear communication of requirements, expectations, and progress.
  • Requirements Gathering & Documentation: Lead the end-to-end requirements gathering process, capturing both functional and non-functional requirements, and documenting them clearly using structured approaches such as use cases, user stories, or process flows.
  • Process Analysis & Improvement: Conduct in-depth analysis of back-office business processes and systems to identify opportunities for process optimization, automation, and efficiency improvements.
  • Solution Design & Implementation: Work closely with IT teams to ensure that solutions are designed to meet business requirements, ensuring effective testing and validation processes.
  • Project Leadership: Oversee and manage multiple projects, ensuring that they are delivered on time, within budget, and to scope. Provide leadership and guidance to junior analysts and cross-functional teams.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure that business processes and solutions comply with industry regulations and standards (e.g., MiFID II, GDPR, Dodd-Frank). Proactively address risks and issues that could impact business operations.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Assist with the development of reporting capabilities by providing actionable insights and ensuring that data is leveraged effectively to support business decisions.
  • Change Management: Assist in the adoption of new systems and processes by providing training, documentation, and post-implementation support.

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Business Analysis Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of experience in business analysis, ideally within financial services or a related industry, with a strong focus on back-office operations such as settlements, reconciliations, trade lifecycle, or similar functions.
  • Leadership & Team Collaboration: Proven experience leading a team of business analysts and collaborating with senior stakeholders, both technical and non-technical, to deliver business-critical solutions.
  • Strong Analytical Skills: Demonstrated ability to analyze complex business problems, identify root causes, and develop effective solutions that improve operational efficiency.
  • Back Office Focus: Deep understanding of financial back-office operations, including trade processing, reconciliations, reporting, and related systems (e.g., SWIFT, clearing systems, custodians).
  • Business Process Improvement: Experience with process re-engineering or optimization techniques (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) to improve workflows and automate manual processes.
  • Technical Proficiency: Knowledge of financial systems, enterprise resource planning (ERP), and/or customer relationship management (CRM) systems; familiarity with business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
  • Project Management: Familiarity with project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) and the ability to deliver projects under tight deadlines while managing resources effectively.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of financial services regulations, industry standards, and compliance requirements impacting back-office operations.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
