Overview

Base pay range: Salary up to €28,500 per annum. We are looking for an experienced Optical Assistant to join our team in Cork for 5 days per week (Monday to Saturday 9am – 5:30pm).

John Daly Opticians, an independent family run business on Oliver Plunkett Street, Cork City Centre, has built a strong reputation in Cork for 51 years. We aim to deliver obsessively great service to every client, using the latest diagnostic equipment, contact lenses technology, spectacle lenses and frames, and the latest fashions.

Responsibilities
  • Greet customers warmly and provide excellent service.
  • Assist customers in selecting suitable frames, lenses, and other optical products.
  • Dispense single focus lenses, multi-focal lenses and contact lenses.
  • Schedule appointments and manage bookings.
  • Maintain product displays and ensure the store is tidy and presentable.
  • Handle administrative tasks, including processing payments and orders.

  • A keen interest in eye care and eyewear.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • The ability to work well in a team and independently.
  • Previous experience in optical retail.

The role includes participation in a Front of House Development course, and exposure to the Eye and its Anatomy, contact lenses, and Zeiss lens features. You will learn through hands-on practice under the guidance of experienced managers, with opportunities to learn about the Audiology journey and to spend time at Zeiss Offices in Birmingham to gain insights into Zeiss lenses. The learning journey ends with a practice-based final phase under the guidance of your learning manager.
