Job Objectives

We are seeking Psychiatric Nurses for the role of Clinical Nurse Lead to join our dynamic team in our specialist inpatient Mental Health Service at Nua Healthcare.

  2. Co-operate with your employer and comply with your responsibilities under the Mental Health Act 2001 and Mental Health Amendment Act 2018, the Safety Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and all associated standards, regulations, and codes of practice.
  3. Ensure ICP's are up to date and that services are delivered to the highest possible quality and safety standards.
  4. Be familiar with and adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  5. Maintain the highest level of infection control standards as directed by company policy and national best practice guidance.
  6. Work according to the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) Code of Professional Conduct and relevant professional guidelines. Responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care.
  7. Complete unit rota's and ensure appropriate skill mix is in place in each individual unit.

Clinical Responsibilities

  1. Provide a nursing assessment of patients admitted to the service.
  2. Lead the unit and support junior staff in clinical decision making.
  3. Ensure a high standard of nursing in the application of clinical nursing procedures and treatments including the custody, storage and administration of medicines.
  4. Maintain a high standard of nursing care during procedures and treatments through supervision and instruction.
  5. Ensure patients' rights are maintained and protected under the Mental Health Act.
  6. Ensure that allocated staff are aware of Individual care plans and objectives.
  7. Complete supervision and appraisals of junior staff members.
  8. Take charge of the Centre in the absence of the Assistant Director of Nursing/Director of Nursing.
  9. Lead in the planning and preparation for MHC visits and inspections.
  10. Work alongside outside agencies to ensure effective communication across services.

Skills Requirement

Qualification:

  1. Registered on, or eligible to be on, the Psychiatric Division of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
  2. A minimum of 3+ years post qualification/registration Psychiatric nursing experience.

Knowledge:

  1. Familiarity with the Health Act 2007, The Mental Health Act 2001 and Mental Health Amendment Act 2018, the Safety Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and all associated standards, regulations, and codes of practice.

Desired Experience:

  1. Previous clinical management experience.
