Senior Data Strategy & Governance Manager

At Abrivia, we are currently working with a leading organisation that is seeking a Senior Data Strategy & Governance Manager to shape and execute their data strategy while ensuring data is managed as a trusted, strategic asset. Reporting to the Chief Data Officer, this role involves developing and embedding a robust data governance framework, driving data culture initiatives, and supporting AI-driven decision-making. This is a strategic leadership position that requires collaboration with senior stakeholders to maximise the value of data assets.

Core Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive data strategy, ensuring data drives business transformation and innovation.
  • Establish and maintain a data governance framework, including policies, standards, and controls.
  • Define and monitor data quality metrics, ensuring compliance with regulatory and business requirements.
  • Lead the rollout of data ownership and stewardship models, clarifying roles across the organisation.
  • Oversee data cataloguing, metadata management, and data lineage tools to enhance accessibility and governance.
  • Collaborate with analytics teams to ensure effective data lifecycle management, governance, and risk mitigation.

Skills & Experience Required

  • 7+ years of experience in data strategy, governance, or data management in a large organisation.
  • Strong expertise in data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK) and data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR).
  • Experience leading and developing data governance teams and driving cross-functional collaboration.
  • Proficiency in data management tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Alation).
  • Ability to design and implement data policies, standards, and risk management controls.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and align data initiatives with business objectives.
