L2/L3 IT Support Engineer – Limerick

Role Overview:

We are looking for an experienced Level 2/3 IT Support Engineer to join our team in Limerick. This role involves providing high-level technical support, troubleshooting complex issues, managing network infrastructure, and ensuring the stability of IT systems. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills and hands-on experience with enterprise IT environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Level 2/3 Technical Support:
    • Diagnose and resolve escalated hardware, software, and network issues.
    • Provide remote and onsite troubleshooting for Windows, Mac, and Linux environments.
    • Manage Active Directory, Office 365, and Group Policy configurations.
    • Administer and support enterprise applications, including virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V).

Network & Security Support:

  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot switches, routers, and firewalls (Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto).
  • Implement and manage VPNs, VLANs, and wireless network infrastructure.
  • Perform security patching, vulnerability assessments, and endpoint protection.
  • Assist with data backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning.

Server & Infrastructure Management:

  • Monitor and maintain Windows Server environments (2012/2016/2019).
  • Support cloud-based solutions (Azure, AWS) and hybrid environments.
  • Manage storage solutions, including SAN/NAS configurations.
  • Automate routine tasks using PowerShell or similar scripting tools.

User Support & Documentation:

  • Provide mentorship to junior engineers and assist with knowledge sharing.
  • Maintain IT documentation, including SOPs, network diagrams, and asset registers.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to support business-critical applications.

Key Requirements:

Experience & Skills:

  • 5+ years of IT support experience, with at least 2 years in an L2/L3 role.
  • Strong expertise in Windows Server, Active Directory, Office 365, and virtualization.
  • Networking knowledge (Cisco, Fortinet, or similar) with experience in routing, switching, and firewall management.
  • Hands-on experience with IT security tools, SIEM, endpoint protection, and multi-factor authentication.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for enterprise systems, including storage and cloud platforms.
  • Experience with ticketing systems (Jira, ServiceNow) and ITIL frameworks.
  • Certifications (Preferred but not required):
    • Microsoft: MCSE, MCSA, or Azure Administrator
    • Networking: CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent
    • Security: CompTIA Security+, CISSP (desirable)
    • Cloud: AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Azure Fundamentals
