The Principal Data Analyst is a senior role in the Clinical Solutions - Risk Adjustment Team and will be accountable for the development and implementation of advanced reporting, analytic approaches, and tooling. You will work closely with other leaders to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the entire organization. We are seeking a thought leader who thrives on designing new solutions to solve intricate challenges and to help us on our mission of helping people live healthier lives.

The successful candidate will collaborate cross-functionally with various business and data analytics teams, have proven business analysis experience and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and adapt to changing business needs.

Working Schedule:

This is a full-time position with standard working hours of Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm.

Careers with Optum offer flexible work arrangements and individuals who live and work in the Republic of Ireland will have the opportunity to split their monthly work hours between our Dublin or Letterkenny office and telecommuting from a home-based office in a hybrid work model.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop a deep understanding of data and business processes related to Chart Review, Targeting Analytics, and Risk Adjustment. Serve as an SME in chart targeting while participating in creating integrated data solutions across the organization
  • Research and develop innovative analytics to generate value for Optum and our clients
  • Identify trends and opportunities for growth through analysis of complex datasets
  • Use data expertise to analyze data and provide solutions to optimizing the performance of operations and data processing tasks
  • Drive strategies for targeting analytics, chart review business processes, and back end data operations
  • Lead reengineering initiatives to modernize legacy analytics and work with stakeholders to understand new features and enhancements
  • Design data integration processes with automation, process controls, and monitoring tools to ensure data quality
  • Validate data pipelines and provide design inputs to build scalable data and analytics processes/data flows
  • Provide accurate data to reporting teams to enable them to build elegant dashboards and reports for complex analytic results
  • Provide quality checks to ensure high standard and accurate data

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a data engineering or similar quantitative field
  • Extensive experience in complex data analysis with relational and non-relational (NoSQL) databases, mining large datasets, including advanced proficiency in SQL/Python or any transferable programming language
  • Demonstrated ability to drive data driven business solutions in a complex data environment
  • Basic familiarity with big data and cloud technologies
  • Ability to drive change and influence individuals at all organizational levels through technical discussions and analytical insights
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and build strong networks in a multidisciplinary environment
  • Demonstrate superior communication and presentation capabilities, adept at simplifying complex data insights for audiences without a technical background

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Risk Adjustment and in a healthcare organization in a data-centric role
  • Experience mentoring and leading other data analysts
  • Knowledge of data architecture, ETL, data warehouse design and large-scale data processing
  • Experience in a healthcare organization in a data-centric role and knowledge of Risk Adjustment
