Staff Nurse Occupational Health, HSE Dublin and South East
Location: Near University Hospital Waterford.
Role/Grade: Staff Nurse in Occupational Health, HSE
Role Type: Specified purpose post to cover maternity leave.
Duration: Immediate start until 1st March 2026.
Hours: Full-time hours (37.5), consisting of four 8-hour shifts and one 5.5-hour shift. Hours/shifts are subject to negotiation with the local service manager.
Qualifications / Experience:
- Be registered in the general division of the live Register of Nurses maintained by Nursing & Midwifery Board Ireland.
- Possess the requisite knowledge and ability, including a high standard of clinical and administrative capacity, for the proper discharge of duties.
- Hold certification of an approved Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers Course within the last two years (e.g., Irish Heart Foundation).
- Evidence of Initial National Anaphylaxis Education Programme for Healthcare Professionals accessible on www.HSELanD.ie, followed by a two-hour classroom skills workshop. Recertification is required every two years by completing the online National Anaphylaxis Education Programme.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in a busy Occupational Health department.
- Good IT and administrative skills.
- Phlebotomy and vaccination administration competency essential.
- Basic knowledge of health screening, surveillance, and pre-employment medicals (desirable).
- Manage Occupational Health records in accordance with GDPR.
- Practice in line with the Code of Professional Conduct and Ethics for Registered Nurses 2025, NMBI.
Reporting Relationships:
The Staff Nurse reports administratively and professionally to the Senior Nurse and the Director of Nursing Occupational Health. Clinical reporting is to the Occupational Health Physician.
