Main Responsibilities And Accountabilities- Lead the Maintenance team (mechanical and electrical) to deliver high-performance process efficiency in a modern well-invested facility.
- Ensure the Maintenance function operates to the Group's required Health, Safety, Quality, and Hygiene standards. Lead Development and Culture change to meet ongoing regulatory and customer standards.
- Plan and develop TPM systems to deliver maximum line/process efficiency including energy, refrigeration, plant services, utilities, and WWTP.
- Develop best plant practices in process engineering & maintenance systems involving new technology and design standards.
- Develop the Maintenance Team's capability and skills, leading performance reviews, training, and individual on-the-job coaching/mentoring and support to best industry standards.
- Responsible for cost management in the maintenance and engineering functions, delivering costs to weekly KPI budgets including energy and projects.
- Develop Maintenance Lean Systems using tools and techniques to meet continuous improvement targets that are critical to the success and delivery of a high-performance plant.
- Work with external Contractors and Installation Companies to complete in-house maintenance and project work to the required standards.
- A key member of the Site Management Team involved in the strategic and day-to-day responsibilities of a modern high-performance facility involving Customers, Regulatory Authorities, and Capital Investment Programs.

Job SummaryReporting to the Site Operation Manager, the Maintenance and Engineering Manager is a key member of the site team. The role has responsibility for the maintenance and engineering management of the site and will ensure equipment, plant, and property are efficiently operating to maximize production output. The operation runs on days only Monday to Friday, so ensuring maximum uptime in this period is key.
As part of the management team, the manager will involve themselves in day-to-day business activities, keeping close to operational issues and requirements and managing projects and continuous improvement activities.
The Maintenance and Engineering Manager is responsible for managing reactive & preventive maintenance on site, managing both internal teams and contractors. The role plans and oversees all repair and installation activities. It ensures compliance with maintenance processes & procedures, maintenance schedules, and delivers on agreed KPIs of plant availability, effectiveness, and costs; and in the deployment of best processes and practices.
Responsibilities- Ensure that the site manufacturing equipment performance meets or exceeds all required KPIs.
- Provide strategies to ensure all technicians' training has been identified and support the ongoing skills enhancement of members of Maintenance teams.
- Ensure planned preventative maintenance is executed to plan and plans are in place to ensure regulatory conformance always.
- Periodic maintenance systems review, identification, and execution of continuous improvement projects focused on equipment performance, application of best practice maintenance strategies to sustain these improvements long term.
- Ensure all maintenance work performed onsite meets Health & Safety and Quality requirements.
- Drive the Maintenance and Reliability initiative focused on Preventive & Predictive Maintenance, not reactive.
- Overall responsibility for the adherence to the site Maintenance Department budget.
- Owner of planning systems Maintenance Function.
- Manage maintenance technician group.
- Manage, maintain, and establish maintenance procedures for production lines in a GMP manufacturing environment to ensure production meets or performs better than budget.
- Support plant optimization across production, filling and packing, utilities, and intake.
- Establish performance standards and optimize performance across all processes in the plant.
- Engage with stakeholders including Quality and Production teams in the prioritization, development, design, and testing of new or enhanced processes.
- Work with the Production team to plan and execute agreed changes.
- Utilize data insights to recommend interventions to drive performance.
- Troubleshoot issues and identify opportunities to enhance plant performance and drive KPI improvement.
- Manage utilities.
- Experienced trade (electrician or fitter) or third-level qualification in mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- A sound, hands-on, mechanical and electrical knowledge of equipment, including refrigeration, conveyors, and packaging.
- Previous experience of managing and leading maintenance teams, ideally in a food manufacturing or pharmaceutical environment.
- Previous experience of using and managing preventive maintenance system(s).
- Strong troubleshooting/problem-solving skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Flexible and adaptable with a strong work ethic - Respond effectively under pressure and meet deadlines. Ability to comply with existing/quickly adapt to new processes within the organization.
