BHSI has an exciting opportunity for an aspiring actuary to join our European Actuarial Reporting team with exposure to all actuarial areas of General Insurance. We are looking for an individual who has both an ability to excel and an excellence of character. The Actuarial Reporting team provides actuarial services to Berkshire Hathaway European Insurance DAC (BHEI) and Berkshire Hathaway International Insurance Limited (BHIIL). It is a small and highly efficient team with opportunities to access a wide range of business functions and business lines.

This position will be based in our Dublin office and will report directly into the Head of Actuarial Function based in London, providing significant exposure to Senior Management.

The role is open for graduate and early career candidates. The tasks and responsibilities will grow in line with the maturity of the business and the candidate's profile.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Supporting the production of financial and regulatory reports, covering both reserving and capital modelling;
• Assisting in the analysis of reserves of a wide range of business lines and geographies;
• Producing and developing information to be regularly shared with management;
• Supporting the production of the Own Risk and Solvency Assessment, including sensitivity, stress and scenario testing;
• Developing and maintaining data quality and documentation of processes across actuarial work;
• Collaborating with Claims, Pricing, Underwriting, Operations, and Finance functions to enhance Actuarial Reporting output;
• Assisting with assurance and audit activities, both internally (with Risk and Internal Audit functions) and externally (with financial auditors);
• Continually improving the efficiency, accuracy, and transparency of existing processes;
• Researching, proposing, and implementing new techniques.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• Actively pursuing the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries actuarial qualification;
• A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in a STEM subject with a minimum grade of 2:1;
• At least an H2 grade in Leaving Certificate Mathematics;
• Proficiency in at least one programming language is desirable;
• Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail;
• Solid oral and written communication skills in English;
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment as well as independently;
• Strong desire to learn from and share knowledge with teammates.
