Quality Environment Health Safety Manager

Select Roofing Ltd is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Health & Safety Manager to lead and oversee all aspects of health and safety across our operations. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 7 years' experience in health and safety within the construction sector, preferably in roofing, and a proven track record of implementing and maintaining best-in-class safety standards.

This role offers a competitive salary, along with a fuel card and company pension contribution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve the company's health and safety policies and procedures in line with industry best practices and legislative requirements.
  • Lead the health and safety function with a strategic focus, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives and fostering a proactive safety culture.
  • Design and implement a structured health and safety strategy that supports operational efficiency while ensuring compliance with Irish health and safety regulations, ISO 45001, and other relevant standards.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and site audits, identifying hazards and implementing proactive mitigation strategies.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by implementing innovative health and safety platforms that enhance compliance, streamline processes, and provide a user-friendly experience for site teams and management.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and training to employees and subcontractors, fostering a strong safety culture throughout the organisation.
  • Investigate and manage all incidents, accidents, and near misses, ensuring detailed reporting and effective corrective actions.
  • Collaborate closely with senior management, project managers, and site teams to integrate health and safety considerations into all project planning and execution.
  • Oversee the management of safety documentation, including method statements, safety statements, and training records.
  • Drive initiatives to enhance employee engagement in health and safety, ensuring active participation in safety programs.
  • Stay up to date with changes in health and safety legislation, regulations, and best practices, advising the company accordingly.
  • Ensure the retention of ISO 45001 certification and lead any related audit processes.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years' experience in a Health & Safety role within the construction industry, with a preference for roofing sector experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Irish health and safety legislation, regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute a strategic health and safety plan that aligns with business objectives.
  • Experience in managing ISO 45001 certification and related safety management systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing health and safety platforms that are operationally effective and user-friendly.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Experience delivering health and safety training and toolbox talks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications.
