Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Data Engineer to join our dynamic IT team at Allied World. In this role, you will assist in the development, testing, and maintenance of data solutions that support our insurance business. Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the design, development, and maintenance of complex data solutions that support business objectives.
  2. Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements, ensuring alignment with business goals.
  3. Architect scalable, efficient data pipelines, data warehouses, and data mesh solutions.
  4. Write clean, maintainable, and efficient scripts/SQL code following best practices and standards.
  5. Mentor and guide junior data engineers, providing technical leadership and code reviews.
  6. Drive the adoption of new technologies, tools, and processes to improve team productivity and system performance.
  7. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate applications with other business systems.
  8. Stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies to recommend and implement innovative solutions.

Skills and Requirements:

  1. 5+ years of professional experience delivering high-performing data solutions, data warehouses, data marts, etc.
  2. Expertise working with platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), and/or on-prem (MS SQL, Oracle, Python).
  3. Proficiency working with data tools/platforms (RedShift, Snowflake, Databricks, Informatica, SSAS, etc.)
  4. Knowledge of ETL/ELT frameworks and data pipeline tools (SSIS, Informatica, PySpark, DLT - Databricks Delta Live Table).
  5. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  7. Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
  8. Experience with Property & Casualty Insurance is a plus.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
