Job Description:

PACIV, a global leader in industrial automation solutions with offices in Ireland, the United States and Puerto Rico, and serving the Life Science, F&B and Utilities industries, is looking for an experienced DeltaV System Administration Engineer.

This is a site-based role within a multinational life science manufacturing environment in Cork, Ireland.

The DeltaV System Administrator will work within the automation department to provide automation platform support and perform system administration and maintenance activities on the DeltaV systems at the site.

The System Administrator will be required to work with a variety of functions across the site, including operations, project engineering, QA and IT.

As the site operates on a 24/7 basis, the job may involve contact out of hours to provide technical assistance, possible non-scheduled call-in time to respond to plant emergencies and occasional scheduled call-in time to provide technical cover during technical transfers and major project activity (e.g. commissioning).

Responsibilities of the Role:
  1. Provide day-to-day support and administration for the site DeltaV Systems.
  2. Assist in maintaining the DeltaV Systems, including servers, operating systems, security tools, and applications.
  3. Engineering scope, design and support for automation hardware and software upgrade projects, and the implementation of new technologies.
  4. Monitor systems health and respond to hardware issues as they arise.
  5. Help configure and test platform equipment (e.g. servers, switches, workstations, thin clients) as needed.
  6. Co-ordinate and support the upgrade of infrastructure equipment.
  7. Interact with other teams to assist in troubleshooting, identify root cause, and provide technical support when needed.
  8. Identify and implement solutions to automate manual tasks, where opportunities arise.
  9. Co-ordinate system changes and update technical documentation.
Requirements:
  1. Degree in Applied Physics and Instrumentation, Computer Science, Electrical or Electronic Engineering or qualifications in other relevant discipline with appropriate experience.
  2. Minimum 5 years' experience in automation, preferably in the Pharmaceutical Industry.
  3. Demonstrated ability to participate in and facilitate decision-making.
  4. Demonstrated initiative, good planning and organisational skills, ability to prioritise tasks, commitment to task completion and timelines.
  5. Possess a keen technical curiosity and has demonstrated strong problem-solving skills and a desire for continuous improvement.
  6. Strong collaborative skills with an ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  7. Demonstrated ability to influence peers and business partners.
  8. Demonstrated strong written and verbal communications skills.
  9. Self-motivated, ability to work independently.
  10. Knowledge of GMP, regulatory requirements, computer system validation.
  11. Proficient in English.
  12. Must have Valid EU Work Permit and Irish Residency. PLEASE NO AGENCIES.
  13. Preferable: DeltaV training.
  14. Experience with industrial networks/protocols, for example: OPC, Ethernet IP.
  15. Experience with virtualisation technologies, thin clients.
  16. Professional certifications.
  17. Experience with Kneat electronic testing.
