The Vacancy

RSK Ireland, part of RSK Group, offers a wide range of environmental consultancy services including those related to hydrology, hydrogeology, soils, geology, ecology, and biodiversity. Working alongside an experienced team, you will get involved with a vast array of projects predominantly within the energy, housing, commercial property, and manufacturing sectors.

The company now has an exciting opportunity for a Senior / Principal Environmental Consultant to join the team in Cork or Dublin - Hybrid basis.

The role will be within the EIA Hydrology, Hydrogeology, Land, Soils and Geology Team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Providing technical leadership and guidance within the Hydrology, Hydrogeology, Land, Soils, and Geology Team.
  • Preparing technical reports to support environmental impact assessments, environmental licensing, and compliance monitoring.
  • Preparing and reviewing Flood Risk Assessments.
  • Coordinating Environmental Sampling & Monitoring programmes.
  • Field-based works associated with projects might include arranging and supervision of trial pitting, drilling and geophysical surveys, peat probing and gouge coring surveys, surface water and groundwater monitoring.
  • Providing mentoring guidance and recruitment advice to the Operations Director.
  • Maintaining and developing technical capability through Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
  • Administrative duties including recording of time, invoicing, health and safety, and developing and updating templates.
  • Managing responses to requests for tenders and developing proposals.
Minimum Requirements:

The successful candidate will be qualified with a relevant environmental or earth science degree (Geoscience, Environmental Science or similar) and ideally possess a Hydrology or Hydrogeology postgraduate qualification.

Person Specification:
  • Minimum of honours degree in relevant discipline e.g., Environmental / Civil Engineering, Geoscience or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 4+ years' (Senior Consultant) or 8+ years' (Principal Consultant) experience in a relevant position.
  • Ideally chartered with a relevant professional body or be willing to work towards chartership.
  • Post-graduate / MSc degree an advantage but not essential.
  • A good understanding of environmental guidance and legislation.
  • Significant experience in the provision of environmental services at a senior level with good analytical skills.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English is essential.
  • Experience of working on renewable energy projects an advantage but not essential.
  • Good business development outlook and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and external bodies.
  • Full clean driving licence.
