Controls Engineer

Shannon, Co. Clare

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Controls Engineer to support the development, implementation, and validation of advanced control systems for state-of-the-art production and assembly equipment. This role will play a key part in delivering high-performance automation solutions and supporting machine build teams through all phases of the equipment lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, specify, and develop robust control systems for custom-built automated test and assembly equipment.
  • Develop and deploy control software for new and upgraded machinery.
  • Lead commissioning and validation activities for both new and modified control systems.
  • Implement software upgrades across all equipment and manage their rollout efficiently.
  • Provide hands-on technical support throughout the project lifecycle, including design, build, debug, and commissioning.
  • Participate in design reviews with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on system requirements.
  • Create and maintain all relevant technical documentation, including validation protocols and user manuals.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards.

Candidate Profile

  • Proficient in PLC and HMI programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or equivalent).
  • Strong ability to interpret and work from electrical schematics and drawings.
  • Experience with robotics, servo-electric, and pneumatic motion control systems.
  • Solid understanding of machine safety standards and regulatory compliance.
  • Creative problem-solver with a proactive and hands-on approach to technical challenges.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently or within a collaborative team.
  • High attention to detail and strong communication skills.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree (Level 7 or 8) in Automation, Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in a similar controls engineering or automation role within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
