Overview

Software Engineer III role at Rakuten Kobo Inc. This is a remote position based in Dublin, Ireland.

Responsibilities
  • Build quality software using the full Microsoft stack including MVC Web Applications, Web API services, .NET 8 microservices and related technologies.
  • Propose designs and proofs of concept to the Architecture team and work with the team to deliver the implementation to production.
  • Participate in code reviews; give and receive constructive feedback.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with teammates, business stakeholders and other development teams in Kobo.
  • Mentor more junior team members and conduct code reviews.
RequiredThe Skillset
  • Computer Science or Computer Engineering degree (or equivalent experience).
  • Highly technical and able to communicate well with engineers and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with C#, ASP.NET MVC, WebAPI, RESTful services, .NET 8 microservices.
  • Experience with SOLID principles and practices, IoC & TDD.
  • Experience with service bus technology (e.g., NServiceBus, RabbitMQ).
  • Strong experience with React and modern JavaScript/CSS frameworks.
  • Experience with Git.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and optimizing observability solutions (metrics, logs, traces).
  • Experience with CI/CD and testing strategies (Unit, Integration, UI tests); familiarity with ArgoCD.
  • Comfortable learning new technologies.
Nice To Have
  • Experience in Agile environments; Docker, Solr, Kubernetes.
  • Test automation using Selenium WebDriver or Playwright.
  • Experience with GitHub or Azure DevOps.
  • Knowledge of Ruby or other scripting languages.
  • Experience with MS SQL, RavenDB, EntityFramework.
