Relief Social Care Worker or Nurse Respite Service

We are currently recruiting for a RELIEF Social Care Worker or Nurse for our Respite Services.

The role is a relief position, depending on the requirements of the Organisation and Staff arrangements. Shift, evening, and weekend work will be involved.

The Social Care Worker or Nurse will provide day-to-day personal care and support for the Service Users. The candidate must believe that individuals with an intellectual disability have unique, equal, and valuable contributions to society.

The respite service offers planned breaks for adults in the CHO5 area, aiming to provide quality, meaningful holidays tailored to each individual's preferences.

Qualifications & Experience
  • QQI Level 7/8 Degree in Social Care/Social Care Studies, Nursing degree, or equivalent.
  • Registration with the social care workers register maintained by the social care workers registration board, CORU.
  • Registration with NMBI on the RGN or ID register.
  • Alternatively, hold a CORU-approved social care worker qualification and have applied for CORU registration (proof of application required).
  • Minimum of 2 years post-qualification social care experience in the area of intellectual disability.

A strong commitment to caring, empathy, flexibility, and experience in dynamic environments are essential.

Role Responsibilities

In collaboration with Management, ensure the provision of high-quality, safe, meaningful, and inclusive lives for Service Users in the respite service. Responsibilities include:

  • Respecting the dignity and rights of Service Users.
  • Supporting choice and independence.
  • Building trust through consistent care.
  • Implementing and reviewing Care Plans and Person-Centered Plans.
  • Facilitating communication tailored to individual needs.
  • Encouraging community involvement and personal development.
  • Supporting Service Users' future aspirations and documenting support needs.
  • Adhering to all relevant policies, procedures, and legislation, including HIQA Standards and safeguarding policies.
