Job DescriptionAre you a recent software developer or systems graduate? At General Motors, our Mainframe Ecosystem team is recruiting for positions across Software Development and Platform Engineering. These teams support ongoing Mainframe Transformation programs providing horizontal shared services which drive modern software and systems practices. You will be working with cutting-edge technology in a global organization that drives innovation. You will play a pivotal role in modernizing our global technology platform while gaining hands-on experience with real-world projects.
Our applications reside on a modern Parallel Sysplex which supports ongoing modernization tools, practices, and products. Future AI potential and projects are in scope of our team's transformation opportunities.
You will work in a highly collaborative and increasingly Agile environment and will assume a key role in modernizing the GM Mainframe ecosystem. This role will suit someone with solid software development and/or systems engineering skills, who is a strong team player with a positive, confident attitude and an eagerness to learn new skills/practices.
Hybrid: This position will be located onsite a minimum of three days per week in our Limerick office and 2 days from home.

- Drive innovation by promoting modern engineering practices like test-driven development, continuous integration, and delivery pipelines.

- A bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or a related field) OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.

- A strong technical aptitude and eagerness to learn new tools, technologies, and practices.

Technical skills required
Training will be provided on required technologies, tools, and processes. We are recruiting candidates with a combination of skills in some (or all) of the following:
- PL/1 / COBOL zOS v2.5 / v3.1
- JCL IMS/DB2
- Easytrieve IBM Mainframe Product Set
- IMS/DB2
- IBM Workload Scheduler (IWS)
- IBM IDz
Additional Attributes/Skills (desirable but not essential)
- Agile, SCRUM methodologies
- Distributed SCM experience e.g. GIT
- Groovy/Java
- REXX Scripting
