We have an exciting opportunity for a Product Technologist within our Own Brand team. This team develops and markets leading Own Brand products, both food and non-food, including brands like SuperValu, Centra, and Musgrave Excellence. The role involves collaborating with Product Developers and Trading Managers to develop a defined range of food products across various categories. You will ensure products are technically safe, legal, and meet specifications, adhering to internal guidelines and policies. A background in food technology or science is essential, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a commercially aware manner.

What you'll be doing:

• Collaborating with suppliers to ensure new and existing Own Brand Products meet specifications and quality standards for both product and packaging.
• Ensuring 100% compliance with legislation and Musgrave policies during all development stages.
• Managing and maintaining online product specifications (Zoom) to ensure full approval before market release.
• Following the stage gate product development process.
• Conducting market benchmarking to identify opportunities for product or process improvements.
• Supporting suppliers and product developers in implementing sustainable packaging solutions aligned with Musgrave's targets.
• Maintaining communication with the Quality department regarding supplier audits and technical issues.
• Building strong relationships with suppliers and customers.
• Understanding business priorities and contributing to cost-effective solutions.

What we're looking for:

• A third-level degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Food Business, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in the FMCG sector or food manufacturing, in roles such as Development, Quality, or Technical.
• Experience with completing retailer specifications using computerized systems.
• Knowledge of legal labels and experience approving product labels.
• Excellent communication, influencing, and project management skills.
• Ability to work independently and within a cross-functional team.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• A passion for food and awareness of current trends.

Functional experience in:

• Project management and planning
• Quality systems like BRC, HACCP, Allergen control
• Computerized specification systems
• Legislation, legal labels, product specifications
• Supplier and product selection
• Product quality optimization
• Benchmarking and lean techniques
• Cost modeling for products and packaging

Strong organizational, analytical, communication, and negotiation skills are required.
