Our Renewable Energy Business Unit currently has a need for
a Procurement Buyer on a permanent basis. This role will be based in Newbridge
and will report to the Head of Procurement. The successful candidate will help
support the Renewable Energy function through running tender processes and
securing value for money and ensuring compliance with policy and directives.
Support and advise the business unit in any procurement undertaken by it. To
assist with procurement planning and deliver optimum value to the business unit
through it’s engagement with third party suppliers of goods and services in a
regulated environment, while continuously improving supplier performance in a
manner fully compliant with procurement policy and process.

The main duties and responsibilities of the role will include the following:

  • Work on assigned procurement projects in the Business Unit to help achieve wider business strategy. Contribute to the enhancement of processes and policies pertaining to procurement within the business. Proactively support business units team members to follow same;
  • Review and assess third party spends within the business unit and agree measures to either add value, reduce cost, reduce consumption, mitigate risk while ensuring compliance with Procurement Policy. Ensure these measures are incorporated into procurement plans and their progress reported and updated;
  • Give best practice advice and support to all staff involved in the Business Unit for procurement of goods, services and works, with strong emphasis on customer service, value for money and compliance with EU Directives, and our internal procurement policy and procedures;
  • Agree the most appropriate form of procurement process with Head of Procurement / Procurement Team Lead and spend owners and run procurement processes in conjunction with the team. Prepare and review procurement documentation and participate fully in the negotiation with suppliers throughout the procurement process;
  • Ensure compliance with shareholder guidelines, regulation and company procurement policy. Continuously improve the control environment working within the business unit and internal audit in order to facilitate an annual procurement compliance report to the Risk & Audit committee of the Board and the Chairman’s statement of compliance to the shareholder;
  • Participate proactively as part of the Procurement team, continuously seeking opportunities to enhance the department. Work closely with the wider team to understand and anticipate their procurement needs and requirements;
  • All employees are expected to co-operate fully with all provisions taken by the company for ensuring Health and Safety, and Welfare of co-employees and members of the public using the premises;
  • Proactively participate in the Performance Management process to ensure delivery of own, and the wider team’s, objectives;

The Person:

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualification, skills, knowledge and attributes:

  • Ideally a qualification in relevant procurement or business discipline;
  • 2 years in procurement;
  • Procurement professional certifications preferable;
  • Knowledge of EU Utilities Directive and knowledge of E-tenders would be desirable;
  • Strong communication and influencing skills;
  • A strong team player with the ability to work collaboratively;
