Oncology Nurse/CNM1

Key Responsibilities and Deliverable Direct Patient Care: Deliver direct care to assigned patients. Conduct nursing history, summarize data, and identify nursing diagnoses and patient care needs. Observe and record patient signs, symptoms, behaviors, and physiological status; communicate assessments and propose care revisions. Implement individualized care plans for newly admitted patients as per policy. Administer nursing interventions consistent with the medical care plan. Handle admission, discharge, and transfer procedures; assist with patient activities and care. Execute physician orders; safely administer medications and treatments. Notify nursing and medical staff of any changes in patient status. Independently assume responsibility for assigned patient care. Perform specialty service techniques and routines. Maintain aseptic techniques, isolation procedures, and infection control measures. Document all nursing care in patient records. Ensure patient privacy and confidentiality at all times. Evaluate and reassess patient care, revising interventions and outcomes as necessary. Assess patient understanding and compliance with healthcare instructions. Review teaching documentation with the Nurse Manager or designee. Adhere to department internal controls. Clinical Responsibilities Adhere to The Professional Scope of Practice Framework 2000 (Nursing & Midwife Board of Ireland). Ensure individual patient assessments, care plans, and evaluations are in place. Involve patients' families and significant others as appropriate. Provide care in optimal clinical environments, following all nursing and hospital policies. Participate in and supervise patient meals and dietary needs. Adhere to visiting time policies. Delegate tasks appropriately based on skill level and knowledge. Record documentation professionally, legibly, and promptly. Managerial Responsibilities Identify and communicate issues to the Nurse Manager promptly. Demonstrate confidence and competence in hospital policies and guidelines. Efficiently record necessary documentation. Manage complaints effectively. Monitor risk management processes. Maintain effective interdisciplinary communication. Deputize for the Nurse Manager as needed. Engage in ward and hospital nursing communication. Personal and Professional Responsibilities Maintain a professional portfolio. Utilize opportunities to educate patients and their families. Attend relevant study days and courses. Act as a preceptor or supervisor to students and new staff. Participate in performance reviews with the Nurse Manager. Educational Responsibilities Enhance learning opportunities in the clinical area. Participate in the clinical induction of new nursing and support staff. Take responsibility for personal learning and development needs. Qualifications Registered General Nurse license in good standing with the Nursing & Midwife Board of Ireland (NMBI). Experience Preferably, 1 year of post-nursing registration experience. Oncology experience is preferred. Job-Specific Competencies and Knowledge Teamwork: Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and demonstrate motivation and innovation. Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Effective communication, presenting information clearly and concisely, and understanding change management. Planning and Organising: Evidence of effective planning, organizing, and time management skills; flexibility in rotations, rostering, and attitude to work. Knowledge: Recent and relevant experience in the specialized area and acute hospital setting; knowledge of new developments in specialized areas and national strategies in nursing care.
