SHE Specialist

The SHE Specialist – UK & Ireland, with a primary focus on Ireland & UK and some support of other EMEA countries, will ensure that employees in the Edwards EMEA SEMI Customer Centre carry out their roles safely and in compliance with local regulatory and legislative environments. In supporting a strong safety culture, the SHE Specialist will deliver guidance and support, playing a major role in the drive to reduce and eliminate hazards through the implementation of robust processes. The role will also ensure that engineering and business operations do not have an adverse impact on the environment, and will seek to ensure that Atlas Copco corporate governance and local administration needs are met.

Main Responsibilities:

• Ensure that SHE Management System and strategy are effectively implemented in accordance with the EMEA SEMI Customer Centre strategy.
• Identify and update SHE requirements in line with changes to local legislation and Atlas Copco standards to ensure SHE compliance.
• Participate or oversee internal and external SHE management system audits to ensure that the SHE management system operates effectively.
• Support and/or carry out product risk assessment/environment registration, make sure the general risk assessment and environment registration will be updated as required.
• Provide SHE induction/training to new and frontline employees regularly.
• Run the LeadSafe/ActSafe programme frequently to raise employee’s safety awareness and improve safe behaviours and conduct regular behaviour observations.
• Prepare and maintain necessary regulatory documentation and reports.
• Monitor Edwards EMEA SEMI Customer Centre Industiral Hygiene factors (Heavy metal/Noise/Chemical) and environment factors regularly to meet the related SHE standards.
• Support and train the SHE Champions of each zone.
• Participate in the local SHE Committee.
• Undertake investigations to incidents and complete reports with all relevant documentation and ensure this is logged in the reporting system.
• Support Service Managers with their safety responsibilities (correct PPE and procedures).
• Interface with the customer on equipment i.e ergo assessments and lifting equipment.
• Run local annual safety week event.
• Assist with ISO audit preparation and delivery.
• Support the SHE Manager EMEA on regional priorities and as required, and collaborate with the EMEA SHE team to share best practices and contribute to the improvement of our systems and processes.

Skills / Knowledge / Experience:

• Qualification in Environmental Health & Safety or a qualification in Safety engineering, environmental engineering with a mechanical technical background.
• Qualification in an engineering discipline desirable.
• The job holder must be an accomplished safety specialist with a track record of improved safety performance.
• Strong communication skills, organisational awareness and impact and influencing skills area prerequisite.
• Self Starter and effective time manager.
• Assertive, diplomatic with a good appreciation of business and commercial issues.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, SAP desirable.
• Proficient in English – written and spoken.
