Our client is a major Engine Leasing company based in Shannon. With extensive growth plans and opportunities across the business, they are welcoming applications for a VP Legal to join their Shannon-based team.

The opportunity: We are seeking a dynamic individual for a VP Legal position to join a high-performing legal team.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Negotiate, review and draft full range of transaction documentation including short term and operating leases, sales, acquisitions, in a global environment.
  • Identify and resolve legal issues within the context of our client's overall commercial objectives including default management, active management of contract compliance issues, lease restructurings, repossessions and bankruptcy matters.
  • Provide preliminary legal support to business regarding contract interpretation and guidance, particularly regarding disputes or other issues that may develop during lease term.
  • Manage and support contracts team in professional development and the provision of high-quality legal advice cross-functionally through the organisation.
  • Participate in a dynamic team environment with significant approval empowerment at deal team level.
  • Develop and manage relationships with external law firms ensuring any external legal resource is appropriate for the advice sought.
  • Lead and implement process improvements.
  • Travel on behalf of the company to negotiate transactions, as appropriate.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s LLP degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5+ years experience in commercial practice or inhouse Counsel role, preferably with substantial prior experience in the areas of leasing and finance, aircraft or engine acquisition, disposal, secured and unsecured commercial lending, international transactions, insolvencies / bankruptcies.
  • Excellent legal negotiating and drafting expertise.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills and the ability to quickly identify and prioritise issues, devise solutions and communicate effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal, organisational and leadership skills
  • Ability to work with a variety of teams.
