About the role The organisation recently launched a significant digital transformation programme that involves several development projects which in turn support a range of public facing business applications including banking/payment, mobile phone and mail services. The developer will work primarily on backend solution projects but as these are required to support externally developed frontend websites and mobile apps, experience of working with both would be a key requirement for prospective candidates. The developer will be required to drive and lead much the development work on these projects both setting the agenda and managing the work of more Junior developers. While this role is initially offered on a 6 month contract basis, there is a high probability of extension well beyond this date. In terms of attendance, the role is located in an easily accessible Dublin City Centre location, and attendance will be on a Hybrid (2 days per week) basis. Responsibilities of Role * Manage and provide technical guidance to a team of software developers, ensuring successful project delivery and adherence to project timelines. * Lead all aspects of the software development project ensuring completion on schedule and within scope and in alignment to the SDLC processes. * Work closely with the solution architecture team to translate the solution design into development tasks and provide feedback on the design as necessary. * Lead agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives. * Ensure the development documentation artefacts are created and maintained. * Assist in the recruitment process and conduct code reviews as well as mentor development staff to facilitate their growth and skill development. * Collaborate with project managers to review business requirements project plans, resource allocation, size and provide recommendations. * Liaise with third party software suppliers and integration partners where appropriate. * Lead proof of concept activity for new technologies and initiatives. * Work with the DevOps team to setup CI CD pipelines and automated provisioning of the environments. * Define unit tests and acceptance tests with the QA function and assess release criteria. * Support the service delivery function in relation to handover to BAU and production support teams. Essential Candidate Requirements * Third Level degree/postgraduate qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field * 7 years relevant IT experience, with proven experience in software development using the Microsoft tech stack and Azure. * 2 years in an equivalent technical lead role. * Microsoft cloud certification or equivalent experience with Azure technologies including web and function apps, service bus, storage accounts, APIM and front door. * Certification in agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum Master, Agile Coach) * Experience with Relational Databases design, MS Entity Framework implementation and RESTful API design using the OpenAPI specification are essential. * Strong knowledge of git and code branching methodologies as well as experience in Object Oriented Programming, MVC, Design patterns and SOLID principles are also required. * Previous experience working on major transformation or technology migration projects. * Previous experience working in a regulated financial services environment (e.g. PCI DSS compliance standard.) Highly desirable: * Experience with some or all of the following: SOAP-based web services using WCF; HTML, JavaScript and web development frameworks; Working with unit test frameworks and Automated performance/volume testing tools and methodologies and Familiarity with Atlassian tools (e.g. Jira, Confluence) Please Note - All applicants must have immediate availability to work in the EU/EEA or be a UK Citizen as our client cannot provide any kind of Visa or Work Permit sponsorship at present.
