NOVAS is an Irish charity and Approved Housing Body that works with single adults, couples and families who are homeless or at risk of being homeless. The organisation largely operates low threshold services which are client-centred and is the largest provider of homeless accommodation in the mid-west region. NOVAS has over 300 staff and more than 30 services in Limerick, Dublin, Clare, Kerry, Cork and Tipperary.

The Role

Reporting to the Senior Tenant Services Manager, this role is vital to the successful delivery of quality programmes and services in NOVAS for our Tenants. The role is situated in Limerick, but requires flexibility to travel as needed to other NOVAS locations, predominantly functioning on a Monday to Friday basis, with adaptability to provide support to tenants in emergency cases, outside of office hours.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Carrying out pre-letting & void inspection, co-ordinating the viewings of properties interviewing and assessing prospective residents.
  • Undertaking and managing rent assessments, arrears monitoring and control, and working with the tenant to reduce rent debt.
  • Work with tenants to ensure their responsibilities are upheld.
  • Liaise with Asset Management team regarding planned maintenance requirements.
  • Working with tenants to maximise participation, ensuring integration and development.
Experience, Education and Skills
  • Interest in career progression as part of a dynamically growing AHB.
  • Minimum Level 4 (equivalent to NFQ level 6) ICSH, CIH Certificate in Housing Studies.
  • At Least 1 years’ experience of managing Social Housing Tenants in an AHB or local authority, or other relevant experience in dealing with tenants & estate management.
  • Full drivers’ licence and use of own car.
  • Understanding of landlord and tenant law, and housing management practice.
  • Demonstrate the ability to treat NOVAS Tenants in a non-judgmental way, preventing or managing challenging behaviour from a trauma informed perspective.
Special Conditions
  • Full driving licence and access to a vehicle.
  • Criminal Record Self Declaration will be sought for this role.
