(commensurate with experience and qualifications) General Information - St Jamess hospital is the largest teaching hospital in Republic of Ireland affiliated with Trinity college. With over 300 new cases, Gynaecological Cancer Care Centre is the largest provider in the Republic of Ireland of treatment for malignancy of the reproductive organs. Our centre provides a regional and national service and is accredited by the NCCP (the HSEs National Cancer Control Programme) for complex radical gynaecological surgeries. International standards of treatment apply, and the service is supported by research and teaching activities through Trinity College Dublin and the Cancer Trials Research Office at SJH. St. Jamess provides a comprehensive range of diagnostic and treatment services, many with national and regional status. Details of the Position: The post holder will join an established team of friendly and forward looking consultant gynaecological oncologists to provide holistic care to women with genital tract malignancies. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Clinical Providing clinical leadership for the well-established weekly gynaecological oncology MDT meetings. Providing both in patient and out-patient care by undertaking 1-2 out-patient gynaecology clinics. Weekly day surgery or main operating theatre sessions subject to theatre availability in view of ongoing COVID-19 disruption. Take part in the teaching and training of middle and junior grade medical staff in the department. Maintenance of high quality patient centred care. Shared responsibility for the day to day management of the service and participation in strategic planning. Active participation in continuing medical education and clinical audits. Indicative Additional Activity Take part in dealing with occasional lifesaving emergencies (mostly obstetric haemorrhage requiring caesarean hysterectomy)in the Coombe Women and Infants University hospital Education Participate in Continuous Professional Development in line with professional competency requirements and in accordance with the requirements of the Medical Practitioners Act, 2007 Maintain up to date registration on the Register of Medical Specialists of the Medical Council of Ireland. Participate in Hospital educational programmes for all related groups of staff To contribute to the provision of undergraduate medical education and examinations of TCD medical students on rotation in Obstetrics and Gynaecology Management & Administration Participate in the development and operation of the Clinical Directorate structure And work within the Hospitals governance / Clinical Directorate structure. 2 Attend and participate in meetings relevant to the post Perform such other duties appropriate to his/her office as may be assigned to him/her by Clinical Director, and/or the Chief Executive Officer or designated officer, of St. Jamess Hospital.
