About Post Consult International (PCI) PCI is a wholly owned subsidiary of An Post, providing specialist IT Strategy, Management and Development services across every aspect of An Post IT infrastructure. Alongside An Post IT staff, they collectively form the internal IT function known as Group Technology Services (GTS) Role Purpose An Post is currently evolving our core network, growing our ICT portfolio, and strengthening our network services both on premise and in the cloud. Group Technology Service (GTS) is critical to building the technology capability that underpins these core services. This is a dynamic, diverse and constantly evolving IT environment and as such, we need an experienced, service-focused Network Engineer who will work as part of the network team who are responsible for the end-to-end ownership of all aspects of the technology underpinning the nationwide network infrastructure. Please note that On-Call, out of hours and weekend work will be required as part of the role. Responsibilities The principal responsibilities associated with this role include, but are not limited to the following: Supportthe day-to-day of networkinfrastructure and services across the An Post estate. Work Independently and in a team environment to build, configure, and implement network infrastructure. Serve as a network representative on enterprise projects by identifying network requirements and lead network responsibilities/ deliverables through to completion. Perform additional engineering and documentation activities associated either directly or indirectly with this effort. Deliver networking elements of Internal moves within An Post sites Assist the network team in the development of new technological projects. Pro-actively monitor network infrastructure and technologies to ensure maximum availability and minimum downtime. Handle network changes in accordance with any required change management process. Manage incidents and request logged to GTS network team. Coordinate with technical and security teams to analyse and implement best-practices for securely operating enterprise network resources. Help to ensure An Post is fully compliant in its audit, security and compliance requirements. Communicate with colleagues/users/clients in a manner that improves their understanding of specific technologies. Liaise with An Post suppliers and Service Providers as the need arises. Knowledge and Experience: The successful candidate will have 5 + years experience working in a Cisco network environment, with current formal qualification such as CCNA, or CCNP. You should have experience of Cisco networking products across Data Centre, CAMPUS, WAN, and Wi-Fi with good IP networking fundamentals experience in many of the following: Ethernet, IP, TCP, UDP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, HSRP, IPSEC, DMVPN, MPLS, VXLAN, 10G, STP, and/or 802.1x. You should have knowledge of firewall and load balancing technologies with troubleshooting skills and methodology. Knowledge of cloud networking, cloud platforms and voice technologies are an advantage. Experience of implementing technology initiatives within large organisations and a desire to learn new skills and technologies are crucial. Excellent written and oral communication skills are required for this role along with the ability to work on initiative and complete tasks with little supervision. Lastly, you will need a full driving license with access to a car for travelling to regular site visits.
