We are looking for a highly motivated individual with extensive expertise in non-invasive Cardiology and Cardiac Catheterization. The Cardiology Department is a busy department that delivers a full spectrum of diagnostic examinations for both inpatients and outpatients including: Electrocardiogram (ECG) recording and analysis 24-hour and 72-hour ambulatory ECG monitoring 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure (ABP) monitoring Exercise stress testing (EST) managed by cardiac physiologists Implantation, follow-up, troubleshooting, and reporting of implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs), cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT), and pacemakers (PPMs) Remote monitoring of cardiac implantable loop recorders Transthoracic echocardiography Cardiac resuscitation Cardiac catheterization, including angiography, percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), right heart catheterization, intravascular ultrasound (IVUS), fractional flow reserve (FFR/IFR), and intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) Direct current (DC) cardioversion Electrophysiology studies, mapping, and ablation, including FARAPULSE PFA (Pulsed Field Ablation) technology. Key Responsibilities: Promote and facilitate the preparation and implementation of service plans, operational plans, practices and procedures which are quality driven, patient focused, and which help to improve efficiency and effectiveness of services and raise and maintain standards and reduce costs. Oversee the supervision, training, and evaluation of staff to foster positive relationships, enhance professional development, and promote employee retention. Perform resting ECG, Exercise treadmill testing, both medical and Physiologist led Fit and analyse of ambulatory ECG and BP recordings Pacemaker and ICD/CRT follow-up Transthoracic echocardiography and report on same, Assist with transoesophageal echocardiography, Independently Assist with Diagnostic and interventional procedures in Cath. Lab to include electrophysiology studies Assist with pacemaker and implantable defibrillator procedures, Report procedure findings and highlighting abnormal findings. Be expected to take part in any on-call rota/change in rostered hours e.g. 8-8pm shift roster that may be or become part of their department hours. Be responsible for the maintenance of standards of practice of self and staff appointed to clinical / designated area(s). Be responsible for managing own caseload and for assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of cardiac diagnostic services for service users according to service standards and best practice. Supervise staff, prioritising and allocating work and promoting positive staff morale and team working in conjunction with the Chief II Cardiac Physiologist. Foster and maintain professional working relationships with colleagues, front line managers, and other healthcare personnel in the team. Demonstrate exceptional communication skills and maintain a professional demeanor, especially during challenging situations, to resolve conflicts effectively and maintain a positive work environment. Participate as part of a multi-disciplinary team as appropriate, communicating and working in co-operation with other team members. Ensure that staff in the department arrange and carry out duties in a timely manner, and in line with local policy guidelines. Qualifications: Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Clinical Measurement from Technology University Dublin or Dublin Institute of Technology OR an equivalent relevant scientific qualification (Level 8) as confirmed by the Irish Institute of Clinical Measurements Physiology (IICMP) OR (if qualified before 2005): Certificate in Medical Physics and Physiological Measurement (MPPM) from Dublin Institute of Technology OR an equivalent relevant scientific qualification as confirmed by the IICMP Minimum 5 years of relevant post-qualification experience Recognised Echo proficiency accreditation: EACVI/BSC, BHRS, IBHRE/NASPE Competent to Perform and report Echocardiography and interpret and report 12-lead ECGs independently Proven ability with conducting, interpreting, and reporting cardiac physiologist-led exercise ECG (stress) tests Proven ability with performing, interpreting, and reporting ambulatory ECG and blood pressure monitoring. Independently assist with diagnostic and interventional procedures in the catheterization laboratory, including percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), intravascular ultrasound (IVUS), fractional flow reserve (FFR), and intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP). Additionally, independently assist during the implantation of all implantable cardiac devices, such as loop recorders, pacemakers (PPMs), cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT), implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs), and subcutaneous implantable cardioverter defibrillators (SICDs), including troubleshooting and reporting.
