About Safe Ireland: Safe Ireland is a national social change organisation focused on eradicating domestic, sex, gender and sexuality-based violence. Our goal is to address this systemic form of abuse by developing high-level analysis and translating it into action. Safe Irelands main objectives are: Make domestic, sex, gender and sexuality-based violence critically visible to Government and the Public Develop strong, practical short, medium and long-term policy-to- practice knowledgebase across housing, welfare and health. Engage with SI frontline services in creating advocacy-ready pathways out of abuse: identify barriers, propose advocacy methods. We are currently recruiting for the following position: NGO Experienced Policy Research Analyst Post Details: (Full time, 35hrs per week Some hybrid working €53.8K per annum + pension) Must have full Drivers Licence and access to Car Safe Ireland wishes to hire an experienced public policy research analyst who is interested in further developing Safe Irelands work in coercive control, domestic violence and sex, gender and sexuality-based violences. This is an emergent area, so while expert knowledge is not necessary, an active willingness to learn and engage in this area of analysis is essential. Our current focus is on building a coherent national policy-to-practice infrastructure which enables survivor-victims of domestic violence across all social categories to escape abuse without obstacle. Housing, social protection, health, justice, education, among others, all fall under our frontline pragmatic working practices. Our team will work to develop integrated responses across both national policy and frontline provision levels in collaboration with the Safe Ireland national network of independent frontline DV services. In our work we value this evidentiary policy to practice feedback loop in creating survivor-centered knowledge and action. The candidate should have a background in high-quality analyses and research. A knowledge of, or interest in, the Irish and European policy landscape, especially in relation to social injustice and inequality is important. A feminist and queer perspective is welcome, as is an understanding of the dynamics of domestic, sex, gender and sexuality-based violence in society. This is a developing area in Ireland, and so, learning and innovation are part of the Safe Ireland ethos. The capacity for advocacy and flexible, active engagement is an important skill set for this work. This is a full-time (5 day/week) 1-year fixed term contract (initially, then subject to the continuation of funding and performance) with a six-month probationary period. The primary responsibilities of the role are to provide high-quality research and analysis and from this to generate concise, accessible position, policy and education/information papers. Work streams/areas may develop as the role evolves influenced by, among other things, funding opportunities and the researchers own expertise. The aim of this key Safe Ireland role is to have an impact on society and policy, therefore engaging with stakeholders, media and policymakers will also be expected, where appropriate. The capacity to translate abstract policy into accessible public-ready formats will be a key skill. The position works directly to Safe Ireland CEO, with reporting functions to the Safe Ireland Director of Operations. The role actively interfaces with other programme managers, project coordinators, administration and communications staff. Our office is based in Dublin 8, Ireland. While the position has some hybridity, predominant working time in our Dublin office is required. Key areas of responsibility: Research Deliver high-quality research/ reports for government submissions and public dissemination Provide short policy analysis/briefing papers as needed for the CEO and team Utilise rigorous research methods capacity to read and generate quantitative data analysis, qualitative data, extant literature reviews, best-practice reviews and other related research activities. Provide on-going reports for Safe Ireland funding applications and organisational development, as required Develop effective strategies for project development, monitoring and evaluation Engage with Safe Ireland to meet our strategic goals Undertake duties, as required, by the Safe Ireland CEO and Director of Operations Project management: Develop/deliver Safe Irelands policy-to-practice research and advocacy work. Prepare and submit to relevant national and international policy cycles: Oireachtas, NGO, EU, Network and Public. Facilitate meetings, public fora and events (digital and in-person) when necessary Represent Safe Irelands work on DSGSBV publicly, when requested, including in the media. Work in collaboration with relevant stakeholders cognate NGOs, statutory bodies, funders, and relevant groups. Have responsibility for day-to-day management of research projects, funding and reporting submissions, as appropriate. Essential criteria for the role: A post-graduate degree in Public Policy with capacity for statistical and socio-economic analyses Experience of working in social policy Experience of using and analysing large datasets, such as census data An appreciation and alignment with the goals and mission of Safe Ireland Willingness to learn about Domestic, sex, gender and sexuality-based violence as a distinct analytic framework. Have strong collaborative, communication and interpersonal skills Desired criteria: Specialisms in the field(s) of housing, health, and/or social protection Experience of qualitative research methods At least two years experience in project management or postdoctoral research Familiarity with domestic, sex, gender and sexuality-based violence e.g. Womens, Gender, and/or Queer studies Knowledge of Irish and EU policy analysis. Experience of contributing to social and traditional media Some familiarity of European languages beyond English Skills & Knowledge: Experience in writing reports and use of other tools for social analysis purposes Proficient in MS packages e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook.
