The Role
The Group IT Internal Audit Manager will be an integral part of the management and strategic development of the Internal Audit function, with specific focus on information systems and controls. The role will be responsible for managing and executing audits and audit projects at Athora. This will include planning, executing, and reporting on planned audits, to provide an independent and objective assessment of internal controls to Management, the Athora Group Audit committees and other relevant bodies.

Key Contribution Areas

Audit engagements:

  • Assessment of IT risks and controls embedded within the information systems environment.

  • Verify that optimal controls relating to major systems and their implementation are in place and operating effectively.

  • Oversee the completion of all phases of the audit process ensuring timely, complete and accurate outputs that comply with Internal Audit departmental standards.

  • Effectively communicate with Internal Audit leadership on audit status, issues and reporting.

  • Review drafted audit issues and develop valid conclusions resulting in specific business process and internal control recommendations, while considering implementation requirements, cost and likely client responses.

  • Oversee final work products and reports to support customer review and discussion.

  • Produce high quality internal audit reports to senior audit management.

Governance:

  • Adhere to divisional and other relevant external professional auditing standards.

  • Assist in the development of Internal Audit departmental audit methodologies and tools.

  • Perform action tracking follow-up with management for Audit Committee reporting purposes.

  • Participate in the completion of annual risk assessment for assigned business units.

  • Actively participate in the development, execution and maintenance of a group-wide risk based internal audit plan.

  • Participate in major business initiatives and pro-actively advises and assists the business on change initiatives.

  • Conduct ongoing communication and management of audit scheduling and staffing for the audit plan through effective coordination with senior audit management and integrate internal audit activities as required.

  • Develop a leadership role in the management, training and professional development of Internal Audit staff.

  • Liaise with external service providers and external auditors and appropriate in the context of the execution of internal

  • audit activities.

  • Effectively lead and manage a Staff Auditor.

Functional or Technical Knowledge and Skills Required

  • ISACA, CISA, CISM qualification (or equivalent): minimum 5 to 7 years’ experience.

  • Proven experience in change management and project management.

  • Operational risk management experience required.

  • Background of working in financial services or insurance, or consultancy-side highly desirable.

  • IFRS and Solvency II reporting (knowledge of BMA, FCA, CBI highly desirable).

  • Education in accounting, audit, or business (or similar) desirable.
