Engineering Manager

Reporting to the Site Operation Manager, the Maintenance and Engineering Manager is a crucial member of the site team. This role is responsible for the overall maintenance and engineering management of the site, ensuring equipment, plant, and property are operating efficiently to maximize production output. The operation runs Monday to Friday during daytime hours, so maximizing uptime during this period is essential. As part of the management team, the manager will engage in daily business activities, stay close to operational issues and requirements, and manage projects and continuous improvement activities. Key Responsibilities: * Ensure that the performance of site manufacturing equipment meets or exceeds all required KPIs. * Develop strategies to ensure all technicians receive necessary training and support the ongoing skills enhancement of the maintenance teams. * Execute planned preventative maintenance according to plan and ensure regulatory compliance at all times. * Conduct periodic reviews of maintenance systems, identify continuous improvement projects focused on equipment performance, and apply best practice maintenance strategies for long-term improvements. * Ensure all maintenance work performed on-site meets Health & Safety and Quality requirements. * Lead the Maintenance and Reliability initiative focused on Preventive & Predictive Maintenance rather than reactive. * Oversee the adherence to the site Maintenance Department budget. * Manage planning systems within the Maintenance Function. * Supervise the maintenance technician group. * Establish and maintain maintenance procedures for production lines in a GMP manufacturing environment to ensure production meets or exceeds budgeted performance. * Support plant optimization across production, filling and packing, utilities, and intake. * Establish performance standards and optimize performance across all processes in the plant. * Engage with stakeholders, including Quality and Production teams, to prioritize, develop, design, and test new or enhanced processes. * Collaborate with the Production team to plan and execute agreed changes. * Utilize data insights to recommend interventions to drive performance. * Troubleshoot issues and identify opportunities to enhance plant performance and drive KPI improvement. * Manage utilities. Requirements and Profile: * Experienced trade (electrician or fitter) or third-level qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline. * Hands-on mechanical and electrical knowledge of equipment, including refrigeration, conveyors, and packaging. * Previous experience managing and leading maintenance teams, ideally in a food manufacturing or pharmaceutical environment. * Experience using and managing preventive maintenance systems. * Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * High attention to detail and accuracy. * Flexible and adaptable with a strong work ethic; able to respond effectively under pressure and meet deadlines. * Proven working experience in maintenance and project management. * Good communication and influencing skills. * Proven organizational skills and ability to work on own initiative. * Advanced organizational and planning skills. * Demonstrated knowledge of lean and process improvement processes. * Ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders. * Results-driven, customer-focused with high performance capability in a fast-moving challenging business environment. * Strong technical ability and attention to detail to perform the job at a high level of accomplishment. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to bring people together for the best outcome. * Experience managing, coaching, and developing a team, leading them to high performance levels.
