Our client a highly successful and well-established company in renewable energy is currently seeking a Procurement Buyer for their facility in Kildare.

Your new job:
In this position, you will report to the Head of Procurement and you will be responsible for supporting the renewable energy function by overseeing tender processes, ensuring compliance, and advising on procurement activities as well as working towards maximizing value through engagement with suppliers while maintaining compliance with procurement policies and improving supplier performance.

Key duties and responsibilities:
  • Work on procurement projects assigned to the department to align with broader business goals and strategy.

  • Assist in the identification of opportunities to improve procurement processes and policies.

  • Review and optimize third-party spending, emphasizing value, cost reduction, consumption reduction, and risk and compliance, and ensuring measures are in place to monitor these areas.

  • Provide guidance to the team on procurement best practices, emphasizing customer service, value for money, and compliance.

  • Draft and review procurement documents, and actively engage in negotiations with suppliers throughout the procurement process.

  • Collaborate with the procurement team and Head of Procurement to select appropriate procurement methods and negotiate with suppliers.

  • Take an active role within the Procurement team, consistently seeking avenues for departmental improvement.

  • Collaborate closely with the broader team to understand and anticipate their procurement needs and specifications.

  • Ensure compliance with all regulations and internal policies.

  • Contribute to enhancing the control environment and procurement compliance reporting.

  • Proactively engage in team improvement efforts.

  • Adhere to company health, safety, and welfare policies.

  • Participate in performance management to meet objectives.

What are we looking for?

  • A third-level qualification in a relevant procurement or business discipline is preferred.

  • 2 years + experience working in a procurement position.

  • Experience in the renewable energy industry is advantageous.

  • Knowledge of EU Utilities Directive and familiarity with E-tenders would be advantageous.

  • Preferably possess procurement professional certifications.

  • Strong communication and influencing skills are essential.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team and collaborate with others.
