Description

Purpose of the post:

· To perform, interpret and report a wide range of vascular ultrasound scans and other tests for vascular conditions, working autonomously at a senior level, and provide clinical supervision to the vascular trainees/physiologists as required.

· To assist the Chief II or Chief I Vascular Physiologist in managing the operational delivery of the newly established vascular laboratory across the full range of referrals and patient presentations, managing staff rotas, and clinic lists, ensuring the highest professional and technical standards are met by all staff.

· To assist/lead/manage clinical research and audit activities within the Vascular Laboratory with the aim to advance vascular science and increase the overall stature/reputation of the Vascular Laboratory.

· To assist in the set up and management of a structured training programme and provide supervision for pre-accredited vascular physiologists, taking responsibility for ensuring the delivery of the service and the individual development needs of trainees on a daily basis.

· To assist the Chief II or Chief I Vascular Physiologist with the implementation of new, improved and optimised methods, techniques and service improvements utilising the best available evidence based medicine, national guidelines and results from research and development.

· To assist with procurement of equipment and consumables required within the Vascular Laboratory.

To deputise for the Chief II or Chief I Vascular Scientist during periods of absence and as required.
