Senior DevOps Engineer

Strategic Advisor Technology is looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer as a member of our product delivery team. While working to deliver business capabilities across a globally distributed team, we continually strive to advance technology innovation and agile practices and delivery efficiency across the delivery organization.

The Expertise We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of software engineering, configuration management & release engineering for large scale enterprise applications.
  • Strong understanding of CI / CD Processes, and experience with tools like Jenkins.
  • Understanding of container technologies and orchestrators like Docker & Kubernetes.
  • Understanding of different build tools and package managers for different programing languages, e.g.: Maven, Gradle, NPM, pip.
  • Experience with git (and implementations like Bitbucket/Gitlab/GitHub), and with artifact repositories such as Artifactory.
  • Developer oriented mindset with ability to design automations to solve problems and create solutions - Proficient in scripting languages such as Java, Groovy, Shell, Python and/or similar languages.
  • Ability to understand the complete development flow and make recommendations on changes or improvements to the development teams:
    • Testing Stages, Coverage Reports, Quality Gates, Security Scans, Environment Promotions.
  • Understanding different components of an application Database/Mid-tier/Messaging/User-Interface/Configuration.
  • Experience with core AWS Services and ability to build automated processes using SDK or CLI.

Nice To have

  • Experience with Kubernetes for large scale enterprise services.
  • Knowledge ofDatadogor other logging, observability, monitoring or APM tool.

The Purpose of Your Role

As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will be in-charge own our CI/CD pipeline through lower development environments all the way to production. You will review, analyze and recommend solutions and tools to improve the software development process all while maintaining existing build processes and leading the design and implementation of their replacement. You will be an integral part of the overall product release process.

The Skills You Bring

  • Ability to review, analyze and recommend solutions and tools to improve the software development & CI/CD process.
  • Develop and support the Continuous Integration process, innovating where needed for solutions that are adaptable to current issues.
  • Ability to create readable and detailed documentation to explain flows, architectural diagrams or processes.
  • Trace complex CI/CD scenarios, release issues and environment issues in a multi-component environment.
  • Develop, maintain and enhance key parts of the release procedures and processes. Coordinate release activities with Release Management, Project Management, QA, and Development teams to ensure a smooth roll out of releases.

  • Working as a member on the SAI Managed Accounts platform, you will play a key role in enabling us to rapidly deliver product enhancements for our business partners.
  • Enable us as a technology delivery organization to execute on moving from a monolithic delivery and application structure to more isolated, service based architecture where releasing software is no longer a ceremony and is highly efficient and automated.
