We work with clients across engineering, technology, software development, manufacturing, agriculture, construction, life sciences, and pharmaceuticals, ensuring their R&D tax claims are technically robust, compliant, and optimised for financial benefit.
As we continue our expansion, we are looking for a highly experienced technical leader to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our R&D technical advisory services.
About the Role:
As the R&D Technical Associate Director, you will lead and develop the technical team, overseeing the assessment, preparation, and submission of complex R&D tax relief claims. You will drive technical excellence, client engagement, and strategic development, ensuring our service remains best-in-class.
This is an opportunity for a senior technical professional with extensive R&D tax expertise, who is ready to take on a high-impact leadership position while contributing to the firm's growth, strategy, and industry reputation.
In this role you'll:
1. Provide strategic leadership to the R&D technical team, ensuring excellence in client service and compliance.
2. Manage a portfolio of high-value R&D claims, overseeing technical accuracy, regulatory alignment, and financial optimisation.
3. Act as a senior technical advisor to clients, guiding them through eligibility assessments, claim documentation, and tax relief opportunities.
4. Develop and mentor the R&D technical team, ensuring ongoing training, skills development, and performance excellence.
5. Stay ahead of legislative changes in R&D tax relief, advising both clients and internal teams on best practices and emerging opportunities.
6. Collaborate with commercial and tax advisory teams to drive business development initiatives and expand CBTax's market presence.
7. Enhance internal technical processes, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and scalability in claim preparation and client service delivery.
We're Seeking Someone with Experience Including:
1. Extensive experience in R&D tax relief advisory, managing high-value, complex claims.
2. Strong technical expertise across multiple industries, such as engineering, software, life sciences, and manufacturing.
3. Leadership experience in developing and managing technical teams, fostering a culture of excellence.
4. Strong strategic thinking and commercial acumen, with the ability to drive business growth through technical expertise.
5. Excellent stakeholder management skills, able to engage and advise C-suite executives, finance leaders, and technical teams.
Nice to haves:
1. Professional qualifications in a STEM discipline (e.g., Engineering, Computer Science, Life Sciences).
2. Experience in corporate tax compliance and advisory, complementing R&D tax expertise.
