Position: Research Assistant (SEN) Contract: Full-time Fixed-term ( 9 months , April- December 2025) Reports to: Registrar Location: Dublin ( Hybrid working available) About Hibernia College Hibernia College has a distinguished 25-year history of delivering innovative and flexible third level programmes and was Ireland's ?rst accredited blended learning third-level institution . Role Overview : An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant to join our research team for a 9-month research project in Special Educational Needs (SEN). This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to impactful research on a national level. The successful candidate will be a core member of the research team and will work closely with faculty members, researchers, and educational professionals to gather, analyse, and interpret data, as well as contribute to the development of research outputs. Key Responsibilities: Data Collection & Analysis : Assist with the collection, organisation, and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data Literature Review : Support the research team in their work on the literature review and international comparative study. Survey/Interview Support : Assist in the design and administration of surveys, interviews, and focus groups (including transcription), ensuring ethical research practices are followed. Report Writing : Contribute to the preparation of research reports, articles, and presentations, including drafting sections of written reports, summarising findings, and preparing materials for publication. Project Coordination : Provide administrative support to the project team including scheduling meetings, maintaining records, and coordinating project timelines. Collaboration : Work collaboratively with faculty, external stakeholders, funders and research participants, ensuring smooth communication and support for project activities. Ethical Standards : Ensure all research activities comply with relevant ethical guidelines and Hibernia College's research protocols. Requirements : Qualifications Education : A Masters degree in Education, Psychology, Social Sciences, or a related field is required . Experience : Previous practical experience working with participants in research projects including participant recruitment and quantitative and/or qualitative data collection. Previous research experience specifically in the field of education is desirable but not required . Skills : Strong analytical skills and proficiency in using data analysis software (e.g., SPSS, NVivo, Excel). Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong organisational and time management skills Attention to detail and accuracy A solid understanding of ethical research practices. Personal Attributes: Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
