About the Client

Our client is a leading international construction and engineering company delivering complex infrastructure projects across Ireland, the UK, and overseas. With a strong portfolio in civil, marine, energy, and transportation sectors, they are known for delivering high-quality projects safely and efficiently. Due to continued growth and the award of a major marine infrastructure project in Dublin Port, they are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team on a site-based role.

Overview

This is a key position within the commercial team, responsible for overseeing the full commercial management and cost control of a high-profile civil engineering project. The Senior Quantity Surveyor will play a vital role in the financial planning, risk management, subcontractor coordination, and commercial reporting across the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

- Prepare accurate cost estimates and forecasts from contract award through to completion

- Manage procurement schedules for subcontractors and materials

- Draft and issue tender packages and negotiate contract terms

- Maintain cost records, accruals, and monthly reporting (CVRs, forecasts, etc.)

- Maximise cash flow, oversee WIP control and implement improvement plans

- Identify commercial risks, value engineering opportunities and manage change control

- Measure quantities using CESSM4 and produce detailed valuations and payment applications

- Administer contracts, compensation events, and maintain relevant commercial registers

- Manage and finalise subcontractor accounts and payments

- Mentor and support junior commercial team members

- Promote best practices in health, safety and environmental compliance

- Support pre-construction and bid writing activities where required

Qualifications

- Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a related field (RICS accredited)

- Chartered status (MRICS) is desirable but not essential

- Minimum 5 years’ post-graduate experience in a similar role

- Strong working knowledge of NEC3 / NEC4 contracts

- Experience in civil engineering and/or marine infrastructure projects highly advantageous

- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel

- Strong communication and negotiation skills
