Client

Our client is an EU-based national flag carrier airline, which was once state-owned but is now a subsidiary of a larger group. It operates in both European and transatlantic markets.

Role

The Lead Android Engineer is a mobile software engineering specialist responsible for driving change and improvement within the company's Android development community. This person will need to be a skilled team leader, constantly seeking to get the best out of the Android engineers while also guiding them with their own technical expertise.

The Lead Android Engineer is expected to be both a strong technical contributor and an effective people manager, with the experience and vision to contribute to major business initiatives across multiple product teams. They will work closely with the Mobile Engineering Manager and Mobile Product Manager to drive continued platform improvement, contributing to both feature development and the refinement of engineering practices, processes, and team mentorship.

Requirements

- Previous experience being Lead of a development team

- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

- 6+ years' proven development experience on the Android platform.

- Excellent knowledge of Java & Kotlin.

- Proficiency in using Android Studio and the Android SDK.

- Strong focus on refactoring and code quality.

- Experience writing Unit tests as a standard part of the development lifecycle.

- Proficient in Git and Gitflow and experience with different branching strategies.

- Knowledge and experience of MVVM and MVP patterns.

- Background in object-oriented design and re-usable components & frameworks.

- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

- Experience working in an Agile Environment.

Nice to have

- Experience working with Firebase.

- Understanding in the build and release of applications to Google Play.

- Familiarity developing with reusable frameworks.

- Experience working within a team based across multiple locations & time-zones. Experience with Mobile App Testing Tools and Enterprise Mobile CI pipeline

- Hands-on experience with customer-facing apps, with an emphasis on usability.

- Knowledge of mobile security concerns and approaches.

- Familiarity with React-Native concepts

- Familiarity or experience with AWS architecture & technologies, in particular Amazon API Gateway.

- Experience with CI/CD tooling and practices.

Offer

- Contract B2B (via vendor)

- Rate: 350-500 EUR/DAY

- Contract for a minimum of 1 year

- Remote 100%
